August 31st, 2011 08:32 PM #17YEAH! I regularly eat at CPK. Napansin ko medyo numipis yung crust ng regular crust pizza nila. At one time, I called the waiter and asked her if she served me the thin crust variety instead. Sabi niya hindi. Ganon daw talaga yung regular crust nila.
At first akala ko glitch lang yon or bago yung kusinero nila. The next time I went to CPK, ganon talaga!
Isa pang napansin ko -- when Teriyaki Boy was still new, I remember they served real Japanese rice. Short grain, round, firm. Bandang 2004 bigla na lang naging regular local rice na hindi gaano kasarap ang texture compared to Jap rice. But the price remained the same! Again, I wish they'd just offer a Japanese rice version of their Teriyakidon for an additional cost.

Teriyaki Boy quality issues? Well, here's the problem:
Pancake House acquires Teriyaki Boy food chain for P230 million ...
Same time period, too. I was also wondering why the food was so bad at Teriyaki Boy in Festival Mall compared to the original in Morato... when I found out about the take-over, I was devastated. If Pancake House ever acquires Omakase, I will commit seppuku with a pair of plastic chopsticks!
When we heard about this:

Not so much. Yellow Cab was okay at the start... but even when they were new, their food was too oily and too salty to eat more than once in a while.

One hopes.
Omakase is a good case study in how to expand without sacrificing quality. Build fewer seats than you can fill, and build outlets with full quality control and sometimes the same staffing as the mother ship (shuffle experienced people around).
Sure... you'd make more money whoring yourself out for franchising... but diluting the name doesn't bode well for the long term health of the franchise.
