Location: ATC food court How to get there: MAke your way to the ATC food court. Stick to the right side (near McDo) and it's near Shakey's. Wallet: 70 pesos up Grub: Typical Filipino cuisine wrapped in banana leaves. You get adobo, tapa, barbeque, etc. with a cup of rice, soup, tomato and half a salted egg (itlog na pula). Not bad for less than a hundred bucks! Their bulalo is more expensive at 90 bucks (no extras like rice yet), but is well worth the price. It's good enough for two people and the beef is so tender it comes off the bone on it's own! Extras: Get the Bulalo!
Location: Teacher's Village Diliman How to get there: Coming from University Drive to UP, take C.P. Garcia (route to Ateneo). Upon reaching the "Stud Farm" turn right (this is the first corner so don't worry), then left, turn right again (you should have a covered basketball court on your right). The condo on your right is the building (if you've reached Bayantel, you've passed it). It's up front so you'll see it immediately. Wallet: 50 bucks Grub: Another one of your coffee places. Coffee is priced around 50 pesos, cookies at around 30 pesos, plus they've got one of the meanest cakes around. Extras: Good ambience, soft music, and friendly people. It's a small place, so its very cozy. Not much people go there so you're sure to have a seat. Nice place to hang around and wind down, place closes at 11 pm though. You can order lunch/dinner from "Along came Mary" next door. (apparently same owner lang)
Location: Teacher's Village Diliman How to get there: beside Brews N Browns Wallet: less than 200 per person Grub: Try their lamb chops....wonderful! Extras: Nice place to have a simple yet intimate meal together with your special someone. Feels like a planned-home-meal-kinda-date ambience. You can order coffee from "Brews N Browns" next door.
Location: SM Manila How to get there: It's on the ground level. Beside the open computer rental. Can't miss it. Wallet: 100 pesos Grub: Pasta and pizza. Italian fast food at it's best. These are comparable with Sbarro's palates. If you just want a taste, you can't go wrong with their sample plate (3 pastas in one plate) for 120 (or more, can't remember). Drinks will net you 18 pesos. As far as deserts go, you definitely must try their turtle cheesecake (YUM!). Extras: Fazolis is also located at Jupiter St. in Makati and in Eastwood City, Libis.
Location: Glorietta, Makati. How to get there: Take the Glorietta exit towards Landmark, hang a right and pass the entrance to the supplies/deliveries area. Wallet: 170 pesos going ... Grub: As the name implies, they specialize in Teriyaki, but they also carry a host of other Japanese favorites like sushi and maki. The Chicken Teriyaki-Boy, either as itself or as a "don" is great! Their teriyaki marinade is one of the best I've tasted. Other teriyaki meals like Tuna are also superb. Have some Gohan or better yet Yakimeshi to complement the rice-less teriyaki. Bottomless drinks are available, and so is beer! ... Consider appetizers like some Yakitori to liven you up while waiting for your order. The place is small, but it adds to the ambience of the place making it a typical Japanese fast food outlet. Extras: This place is getting quite popular and it's common to arrive in a "please wait to be seated" mode. The bad thing about this is that there is no place to wait except the sidewalk. The wait, however, is well worth it as this is A class material! BTW, don't expect the traditional Japanese flavor, it is there, but with a touch of modern cuisine added to the mix.
Location: Filinvest, Alabang How to get there: Exit Filinvest toll plaza. Head towards ATC. Hang a right before TOTAL gas station. Wallet: 150 up Grub: Awesome burgers! Their Black Angus Beef burger is definitely mouthwatering (although the meal cost P185). I don't know what the white sauce is, but it's great with the onion rings they have. Burgers are in american proportions with real beef! Worth the money spent. Extras: Great burgers. But I wish they had more choices.
Location: UP Bahay ng Alumni
How to get there: UP Diliman, then look for the Bahay ng Alumni Building
Wallet: 200+
Grub: Great food. I suggest that you try their Chicken ala Kiev. Complete meal... appetizers (mostly soups), viands (they have filipino, spanish, italian and chinese dishes) and their cakes are perfect for dessert.
Extras: Unlike the other restos that uses instant ice tea, they have bottomless "fresh" ice tea with lemon or calamansi and honey. For tea lovers like me... this is a major plus!
Downside: You need to be there early (11:15-11:30am for lunch) same goes with dinner... if you don't want to wait for a table.
Location: Visayas Avenue
How to get there: From QC Circle, turn right ti Visayas Ave then straight ahead (check the right side of the road - Brownish pink building)
Wallet: almost 500 (for 1 big pizza and 2 orders of bottomless ice tea)
Grub: Delicious BIG pizza at a very affordable price. Need I say more?! For Pizza lovers... you must try the (New England's Best Pizza or the Meatlovers Pizza)
Extras: Napolli is owned by their cousin. They have the same ingredients but the ambiance of the resto is different (Avenetto is more cozy - but don't expect too much) plus Avenetto is the original.. they just came up with Napoli a year after Avenetto opened when they saw that it was a big hit.
Extra-extra: They have smoking and non-smoking area.
