Dunkin-Donuts and Baskin-Robbins (plus some others) are from the same family of owners who are in for it for ROI (return on investment) for THEMSELVES, not ROI for the franchisees.

I owned and operated a Baskin-Robbins franchise for 12 years.

They are not the only ones who have this business model. Very few of the more well know franchisors think of the franchisees first, and themselves second.

    My advice is simple.

Pick a franchise system which appeals to you, first.

Then, speak to former and present owners.

It is far better to buy an existing franchise than to establish a new one.

Remember a franchise is not a guarantee of successful business or of making lots of money.

A franchise is simply a license to use a name. You will get what you pay for, nothing more.

    Ciao!

    Uncle Nick.

Considering how low the prices of the merchandise you will be offering for sale as a Dunkin Donut franchisee, I wonder how many years return on investment will be? I don't personally think that P500k will cut it. Will the P500k cover the renovation, equipment, training? Ballpark figure it will cost around P5Mn. I suggest try Mang Inasal - cheaper alternative - it was around P2Mn last year in terms of franchise fee.

I have not seen much of Mr. Donuts lately.

Their coffee was way better than that of Dunkin'.

    Donuts,- almost the same.

Could also be a cheaper option.....

personally for me OB, I will not invest sa DD. I don't have details to back up my assumptions pero I think matagal-tagal mababawi yun investment mo meron ka pang overhead expenses.

I mean for P500k, sigurto kiosk size lang na DD makukuha mo.

right now the same pa din daw yung franchise fee, since nasa stage pa sila ng due diligence, mga march pa fully mag take over si jollibee with mang inasal.

btt: if sa 500k then maganda location ng dunkin donuts siguro mg 3 years yung possible na r.o.i pero dapat meron kang benta ng at least 10k a day para ma achieve to.

when people invest a lot of money in building a brand, they don't expect the big returns to come from retail sales. They expect the big returns to come from selling the franchise.

why would they bother with businesses that have tiny margins?

problema na ng franchise buyers yan

people are willing to pay franchise sellers 5-6-7-8 figures just to use their idea

the buyers then have to work really hard to keep a low margin business profitable... hoping to make ROI in a few years

who's the winner there? the sellers

I agree with sir ULS. Better to come up with your own brand and market it. Most low-cost franchise business models are low margin high volume types and the only way to ensure that your earnings are at the right side of the equation is to select the perfect location where your only competition is yourself. That way, you'd be able to cover royalties, overhead, other opex, costs for personal amenities and even get to bring home some extra for the missus and little junior.

I also own a franchised business and all I can say is, better to put up your own. Your pagod at hirap during the building and establishment phase of your business would certainly far outweigh the end benefits as far as personal and financial satisfaction goes.
