Age gap guy mentioned to me na he thinks a lot of women like him just because they think he has money. Anyway, naisip ko din si ex SO at issue din niya mga gold diggers. LOL. I guess kung ang mga babaeng maganda ang issue e if men only like them for their body e mga lalaking mayaman naman ang issue e if women only like them for their money.
Anyway, I told him he could be sure I don't care for his money because he knows my family, in fact we are like first cousins in law (?) He said that's one reason why he likes me and in his words - "you have and I have" BUT the problem is I really don't have anything, I don't even have a jobWe have a huge gap when it comes to finances like one time he mentioned that he wanted a cheap watch, I said define cheap and he said P300k-400k, I said that is NOT cheap (at least not for me) He and his friends make me feel like a pauper in comparison to their lifestyle
It's making me wonder if there is a future for us.
In some societal circles in the PH, couples have typically known each other as early as grade school or high school, which makes for a really homogeneous group. A newcomer (usually someone's bride) would likely still be within 2 or 3 degrees of separation at most (and have some common close relations or friends, at least).
Everyone else outside that can sometimes be viewed with suspicion, regardless of income bracket.
I know of a chinese mestiza (a scion of a Chinoy family with a huge distribution business in the Philippines) who was viewed with suspicion by the grandmother and mother of her Spanish mestizo boyfriend (they are from Western Visayas but speak Spanish at home). They were overheard talking about her in derogatory terms to the son and called her "tindera" (¡Ella es una tendera!). Unfortunately for the boyfriend, she studied Spanish in school (she went to Poveda). They broke up soon after.
Soap opera level drama, to be honest, but it does happen.
I'm not surprised. Apologies to Chinoys here but Spanish elders have low regard for Chinese, I would even say disdain. It doesn't matter how rich kasi it's the lineage that matters. I remember telling my Lola, the glory days of the Spanish in PH are over, it's now the Chinese. She was NOT happy about it. It's also true re tindero and tindera. My Lolo would comment something similar.
A lawyer I know turned me down because he does not want to deal with Spanish families anymore because of the drama.
