Sayang, I did not made any sound pressure measurements before and after the oil change.

Anyway, the new oil (Zic X7 10W40 CI-4) makes my 2.5 Innova noticeably quieter. In full honesty, it's not a subjective observation nor is this a 'love your own' type thing. I'm as objective as they come when talking about technical stuff and I'll tell people what I think, based exactly on my experience. I know what I'm hearing and it's sweet.

Old oil was a Toyota FS 5W40 CF.

Well said. That is why I just buy the cheapest fully synthetic I can find. I don't care whether it is Wednesday group or Thurday group...they are all That's Entertainment 😅😅😅

It's not always prominent on labels. You need to do due diligence and research.

Almost the majority of Full-Synth oils are Group-III. It's not particularly inferior to Group-IV like some would assume. Group-IV oils are not all pros. There are also disadvantages to it.

Yung iba kasi feeling race car yung i-drive nila kaya panay hanap ng "best" motor oil.

Ako I settled for Zic's 1,500 per 6 liter jug synthetic oil hahaha. Baket? Kasi halos same price siya nung Delo Gold na gamit ko dati. So shft to synthetic for minimal cost.

I'm a late comer to Zic oils. But before I went for it, I did some research. SK Group appears to be one of the biggest supplier of Group-III base stocks in the world. They have been open that their Full-Synth oils are Group-III, with the trademark name Yubase. They supply stocks to Repsol, GM, Nissan, Kia/Hyundai, among many others.

SK "Zic" is their own "home blend" of lubrication products.

Anyway, with the traffic condition in Metro Manila, I will have to do my OCI every 6 months. Replacing 7 liters of motor oil twice a year would really add to the operating expenses (not to mention the higher fuel consumption due to traffic). You just have to be practical and not spend more than what is necessary.

Anyone using the X9 5W-40?

I have been using Mobil 1 0W-40 (usa silver bottle) for many years already. The problem with it is, that the supply. And if it does exists, its priced high (high profit margins by the resellers). One of the bigger importers tell me that he is out of stock and he will be "hoarding" his next shipment due peso depreciation daw.

So I might use the X9 this time around, since supplies should be readily available locally. And it is priced reasonably (vs Mobil 1 0w-40 usa silver bottle)
