gee, another toyota issue. i think lahat naman ng kotse may sludging issue. just so happens na talagang sangkatutak ang toyota sa kalsada (at sa buong mundo for that matter) kaya amplified parati ang mga problema. if you google sludging + any car manufacturer, may lalabas na mga sludging complaints.
So, for toyota owners, don't worry too much. tatanda tayong maaga nyan hehehejust be religious in your oil and filter changes. dapat mapalitan ng oil every 3 months kahit isang dipa lang ang itinakbo ng kotse during that time interval. kung usual usage, every 5k kms, kahit mineral or synthetic.

ayusin lang natin,
1.mineral: goes for 6mos or 5000kms
2.semi-synthetic: 7500kms or 9mos
3.fully synthetic: 10000 or 12mos ( *5000kms change filter + add'l oil)
* whichever comes first mos or kms
Yung sludge ng toyota engines, I think stems from the fuel filter used. if the oil is not filtered effectively sludge will develop cause the dirt deposits will mix with oil. the engine will "katok also if the filter is clogged cause oil wont lubricate the metal parts of the engine, and will cause overheat due to excessive friction. Now why the filter? cause there are a lot of fake filters out there, even some unscrupulous casa employees may pass to their fake filters to unsuspecting customers who think they have an original. The orig will be sold outside as it is highly priced at some auto supplies. Fake I am referring to are not the vic brand cause even that too is being faked. just my 2 cents

di ko po nagets. you were starting with the fuel filter, then end up with the oil filter sir.
pero i agree na din. a good OIL filter can add protection against sludge.
but the most effective is being religious enough to properly maintain your vehicle (not just your engine) and meeting diligently your scheduled pms.

Problema pa kasi di natin nakikita ang oto kapag PMS na sa casa.. Baka mamaya palpak gawa nila't salpakan ka ng pekeng oil filter
..
Our vios has been using fully synthetic oil since 5k PMS.. Di ko lang alam kasi dad ko nagpapa-PMS eh.. Pati 10k PMS ata, change oil pero synthetic pa rin.. Sana naman wag na magkaroon nitong sludge..Sa 15k PMS sasama na ako for me to know the status of the engine..
I could imagine, the cold weather and smell of pine wood. Heaven! Sent from my SM-N960F using...
