What do you mean by "tune up" on cars?

i sometimes miss tinkering under the hood.. when we were students without income, we used to play around with the carburator jets, to get the most from our fuel.. we had quite a collection of jets then..
todays cars, i can't do anything anymore.. but it's probably a blessing, as i can't seem to fit under the car anymore, and my eyesight can't see into the dark innards of the engine bay anymore without my glasses.. hirap mag-salamin kapag pawis na pawis.....

"Tune-up" is an old school term that has more to do with carbureted engines. Typically, timing, AFR, idle speed, etc., are manually adjusted during the PMS of said engines.

EFI and engines that already has an ECU/ECM/PCM uses a myriad of sensors (ie. O2, ECT, knock, MAF/MAP, etc.) to keep the engine "tuned-up" in real time. The PMS involves just replacing consumable/serviceable parts like spark plugs, filters, faulty sensors, fluids, etc. You don't typically change the engine parameters like AFR, timing, idle speed, etc., as these are all computer-controlled.

It may still apply to specialized cars wherein ECUs parameters can be modified for performance (using piggyback or aftermarket ECUs). But in the context of factory-stock cars, manual tune-ups are typically no longer necessary.

1.)pwede po ba mag pa check up sa casa kahit hindi mo dun binili car mo? like honda alabang mo binili car mo but sa honda makati ka nag pa check up or bibili ng parts

2.)may bayad po ba kahit check up lang like i checheck lang yung tranny?

3.)Ano po ba tawag dun sa parang computer na kinakabit sa may engine para ata malaman yung problem ng car and how much po mag pa ganun?

2.)may bayad po ba kahit check up lang like i checheck lang yung tranny? - kung walang baklas free inspection lang yan. pag may baklas may bayad na.

3.)Ano po ba tawag dun sa parang computer na kinakabit sa may engine para ata malaman yung problem ng car and how much po mag pa ganun? - OBD 2 scanner sir. mahal din.

tune up is basically, going to your mech para i-kondisyon mo ang carbed na auto mo para sa mahabang biyahe.

mga sir sa honda jazz 2005 ko.. does tune up still applies or pa change oil nlng po ako? 2nd hand po ito from my tita. what i have done so far last year is change oil, filter and transmision oil change.
