February 18th, 2010 03:03 PM #51Here'e the effect of using petron super unleaded E10 on my 2010 Genesis Coupe 2.0turbo.... the mechanic at Hyundai Commonwealth said the "pak-pak-pak" sound was "fuel knock". That seems logical since that never happend when i was still using Blaze. I'm gonna fill up with blaze as soon as the tank's empty to see if the sound goes away.

February 27th, 2010 01:20 AM #60My apologies guys, as it turns out the casa mechanic misdiagnosed the ticking as "fuel knock" when it was in fact later correctly diagnosed as "hydraulic valve-lifter lash" caused by using the wrong viscosity of oil (they used 15w-50 instead of 5w-40) and over-filling the oil. The casa corrected their mistake, and now the engine sounds good as new. But either way, i'm still having second thoughts about using e10 again, and will probably stick to pure gasoline coz I also noticed a drop in fuel efficiency using e10... I averaged 5.8km per liter on e10 vs 6.5km per liter on blaze on a 2.0 turbo.
finally found a reliable bt obd2 thanks to travajante for referring kingbolen. then i modded so it...
