From what I heard & read from some Biznets news...These oil companies get their bulk of their profits from these type of specialized fuels. And much more to those promo' TOYS e.g. miniature cars...you wouldn't believe how much they are laughing all the way to the bank on these so called Promos.:grin; free burger etc... In fact other country are replicating these sales gimmicks from the Philippines. No wonder some Pinoy sales executive are managing the Retails abroad.

That's just how business works. Profit margins are relatively low on petroleum-based products due to them being heavily regulated. So they'll try to get creative and sell products with their own flavor to raise its value.

It's not particularly bad practice. If it were, all the Apple execs would be in prison. A $999 smartphone? Madness! But people still want it.

Old news but this will give you perspective how much Apple is raking in compared to a few big oil companies: Apple, The Oil Company? – 5ish Words

95% of the Time I use Shell fuel products, but very seldom to use their premium fuels only on a Long Drive trip where IMHO I could get benefit of that additional additives on them. For the rest of my consumption it will just be the Fuelsave.

no, different ang price. kakabili ko lang e and i got the brochure guven at the gas station. with vpower it's P199 for the die casts and P249 with fuelsave diesel (per P500 product purchase).

kung di lang makulit anak ko di ako bibili or even gas up at shell.

nope. the cetane enhancers are added to the base diesel prior to release to depots, meaning FS and VP gets the same amount. that is also true for bio-fuels addition.

last time i heard the oil industry here is deregulated. that's why they have price adjustments every week. i don't think their margins are low, even with depressed oil prices. but if they can further improve their margins with these gimmicks, and as long as consumers are happy, then there should be no issue at all. except with the PUV drivers of course.
