I'd stick to 5w30. First the fc improvement will be minimal, and secondly, 20 weight is not ideal for hot climates.

HondaPH uses their "green" 0w20 FS oil as their synthetic option for all their models nowadays. It has been some years already since they stopped using the old red-label 5w40 VTEC LEV FS oil. I have tried it on our previous gen City and Jazz.

Subaru used to recommend using 0w20 oil for naturally aspirated Foresters. Then a few years ago, they told us to switch to 5w30 iirc. Now I'm getting confused.

There was a discussion about it on one of the Subaru threads. Haven't visited a Subaru dealership since 2013.

As per the manual of the Forester SJ, the non-turbo Foresters (FB20 engine) have a recommended 0w20 viscosity with 5w30 as an alternative. I may have to check again, to be sure.

The dealership may have switched to a different supplier and the new supplier does not carry the 0w20 viscosity. As long as the viscosity is within the manufacturer's limits, that is just fine.

Nope. Honda would not be using their 0w20 for all their gas model lineup if the 20 weight oil is too thin for our climate. Ford's Ecoboost engines also have a recommended 5w20 viscosity but most local Ford dealerships do not offer such a viscosity. Ford casas use 5w30 oil instead.

I think this IS the reason.
