Remote bypass oil filtration

Hi guys, me and my friend got a baldwin oil filter for our himda jazz GE. We got it from one of our friend, my friend had his oil changed yesterday, the problem is 1gallon of oil was not enough, is this normal with baldwin filters since the size is way bigger than the oem filter? Also the oil is below the H level of the dipstick, around 200ml short, is this okay or should we add more oil? Because we only bought 1 gallon each.
