If someo could reply back with the correct filter for a Ford WLT 2.5 turbo diesel engine. The one from the Everest and Ranger. I have conflicting data just trying to verify it for my files.
Well my search for the Ranger/Everest filter is still conflicting but in my hunt I checked the Ford club Philippines site and was looking for answers unfortunately the part number did not cross reference up to anything.
But I did find this, Another prime example of the fakes that are out there, you should be very leary of buying from these little small autoparts store especially. Make sure you look out for the obvious,
No country of origin, box that does not look like the normal factory unit, Filter has plastic covering just the bottom. (ONLY) China filters will have this do not buy them your risking your engine.
First was the funny business with the box. Motorcraft will always have the FORD logo on it.
Then there is the filter. Do you see what I see?
Ford dealer in the Philippines purchased oil filter. Notice the FORD logo on the box next to Motorcraft, That will always be present in a real one.
Now the filter
Fake filters can lead to many vehilce engine failures, a simple thing like a poorly designed anti drain back valve can cause serious wear on start up because there is no oil in the filter.
Poorly designed bypass valve might not open at the right psi or not at all, And knowing all the China fakes they use a filter media that is not even cellulose it's like strait epoxy treated paper and very brittle and becomes clogged easily. Clogged filter with no bypass equal no oil for your engine.
Also a bad bypass can cause sever pressure in the filter and believe me these China knock offs are not rated as high as OEM, If you want to suddenly loose oil pressure due to it bursting feel free to buy them.
It's becoming very clear the market is saturated with Fakes. Buyer beware.
