February 25th, 2014 12:03 AM #1Guys I need some advise sa mga may alam sa ganitong engine.
QG16DE is in my nissan exalta. I encounter hard starting problems then a mechanic inspected my spark plugs and found na basa lahat ng oil and yun daw ang cause bakit mahirap i start. Sabi nung mechanic i should replace the valve cover to fix the leak dahil kasama daw sa valve cover yung mga seals.
Is the mechanic right, or is there any other oil seals / spark plug seal that can cause a leak?

Have a compression test done first to determine what exactly could also be the problem (piston rings, seals, etc).

March 7th, 2014 10:47 AM #10which part of the sparking plug is wet with oil?
if it is the porcelain end, then it's probably due to oil dripping from a defective valve cover oil seal above.. this can be fixed by replacing the gasket with a new (never used!) seal.
but if the business end (sparking end) is oil-fouled, then it's probably worn oil scraper ("piston ring"), valve seal, head gasket, or (gulp!) cracked engine block.. ka-ching!!!
