why is the helix ultra thick ??

I'm thinking of helix hx7 5w30 ss to compare with havoline ss ..

why is havoline not long life ??

the reason why I want to try 5w30 is because my usage is frequent stop & go .. turn on the car in the morning, go to the office and turn off the car .. during lunch time, turn on the car, drive the car after a minute of starting it ... most of the time after I ran the car slowly after 30sec to 1min of cold start and I want the oil to circulate faster ..

I just want to make sure that i wont damage my 4afe engine by running 5w30 on it .. some say that an oil too thin will not circulate properly on some engine ...

If I were you, I'd use 40 instead of 30. The number beside "W" doesnt matter in our country, AFAIK.

I would also go for 40 in your case where the car is 20YO. 5w or 10w I believe would not matter unless you live in baguio between the months of dec to feb when the temperature go below 10c. . .and only 'sometimes'

    Why 30 ???

Is it not advisable in our country ?? why does honda and vios recommend 5w30 in their manual ??

4afe in pakistan, miami, arizona etc all use 10w30 ..

5w30s in general are thinner oils than 10w40s and should save you a bit of fuel due to the lower friction in the engine. The better fuel economy is of course either something car makers try to shoot for with every improvement in the car OR something government should be imposing on car makers over time.

And yes I've seen cars on 10w30 in cali arizona and florida running all year no problem.
