October 27th, 2010 12:10 PM #12Well as per your description of the problem, you might have a clogged idle circuit in your carb. You need to disassemble the carb and clean it.
No amount of carb cleaner spray can clean a clogged idle orifice unless you disassemble the carb and spray the carb cleaner directly into the idle orifice.

October 28th, 2010 08:26 AM #14I was advised by a local mechanic to remove the carb and ibabad sa lacquer thinner, barado nga daw yung sa may idle.....tama ba ito? wala ba pedeng madamage yung lacquer thinner? Wala bang rubber o-rings na pwedeng lumutong/matunaw?
TIA

October 28th, 2010 07:19 PM #15Ok na po ulit (it seems to be)
And before ko swap, binabad ko muna sa lacquer thinner, blew some compressed air on nooks and crannies.
So linisin ko na lang yung may problema, at least verified that problem is with the carb nga, malamang madumi nga yung idle orifice, babad ko tomorrow sa lacquer thinner
Now I learned new things about car maintenance

October 28th, 2010 07:58 PM #16Congratulations to you. You have learned fuel system 101.
If you still want to learn, you could clean the offending carb and re-install it, this way you could pinpoint the problem within the carb itself and will save you a lot of money. Carb swap is only done as a last resort because carb is expensive.

How much does a surplus carb usually cost?
at least now I have a few idea on how the carb works, medyo mahirap lang magbaklas, nanakit ang likod ko :D

October 29th, 2010 03:57 PM #18a second hand carb for toyota 4k will cost you 1,500 + labor :because you should open, clean the inside and look for missing parts. A brand new china made carb is worth 3,500 pesos but it is not free from head ache. A brand new original carb is worth 10,000. For 2E models it is much expensive.
Since toyota parts are cheaper than nissan, expect 20 to 40% increase in price.

I'll keep the extra carb I have in good condition... buti na lang pala di ko na-dispose after mapalitan makina ko
btw... the previous carb (extra) that we removed is currently being cleaned. Dami na nga dumi, may part na parang putik na nag accumulate
