    more power to tsikot

    I'm a new car owner, i have a 91' galant gti 16v 4g63 engine
    i had the year for about a year now.. and is experiencing a couple of issues lately

    i observed that my car is loosing its power,

    1.) rpm is dropping badly specially when the ac, lights and stereo is on..
    2.) the engine sounds like a diesel engine, and i saw some oil around the spark plug
    3.) oil seals under the engine are leaking and the smoke coming out from the exhaust smells bad..

    i believe i need a major repairing to do with my car..and badly needs help cause i don't know much about cars yet.

    is my engine for a total overhaul and how much would it cost?
    and do you know any good mechanics for this kind of car

    hoping to hear from you guys.. badly needs help/

    I am not sure of the cost but your problem sounds like the cylinders have lost compression due to leaks in the head gasket.

    Best to have a qualified shop check and give you an estimate on repair cost.

    If you dont know any shops, you tell us your area and we can try to suggest one nearby.

    hmmm... so its the head gasket..
    im in san jose del monte bulacan...

    do you recommend dukot of the engine for this?

    Find someone you trust to endorse a very good mechanic willing to estimate the cost effectiveness of fixing your car. Also someone willing to give options (like replace engine, etc.). A second and even a third opinion might be good.

    Given you have mentioned your engine have leaks on the heat and at the oil seals in the engine block, it would be better for a full overhaul to be done.

    You have to consider that the engine is nearly 20 years and I assumed it has never been overhauled yet.

    As for suggesting a shop... the ones I know are located within Metro Manila. Maybe another tsikot member can suggest a shop nearer to you.
