Namamatay bigla ang engine

Guys help please . It started after my change-oil and replacement of clutch fan. I dont know if these could have anything to do with it but I doubt if they really do.

To summarize it, the engine tends to die while im cruising, habang nakaapak ako sa accelerator. Yung tipong naubusan ka ng gas. And when I step on the clutch and let it idle, namamatay na sya ng tuluyan. When i restart it, hindi muna sya magsa-start, it seems that it's not getting any fuel kahit tapakan ko pa ang accelerator. But after 3 attempts to start, balik tu normal ulit. Then I could cruise normally again as if nothing happened, and I wouldn't know kung kelan na naman sya magkakaganun.

So far these are the things I noticed:

1. It usually occurs pag medyo malamig pa ang engine
2. Its weird but tuwing late afternoon lang or gabi nagkakaganun, it must have something to do with electrical consumption ng sasakyan
3. It cant be a low in fuel problem coz I always drive in full tank
4. when i tried revving it up while naka-idle, hindi naman nabibilaukan
5. during cold start, hindi namamatay ang engine on warm-up. dun na sya namamatay pag tumatakbo na ang sasakyan

My ride is a Nissan Vanette. I would really appreciate if you could shed some light, wala talaga akong idea. I'm hesitant na patingnan sa mechanic coz the problem might not show up

My first guess would be dirty fuel filter or fouled or worn out spark plugs.

yup. check mo na rin fuel line. baka clogged na.

yup. or faulty fuel pump but thats unlikely

Pag fuel pump usually it gets worse when the car is warmed up...

I'd check the cheapest sources first like the filters...

Malamang nga Fuel Filter yan or barado ang fuel line. kagaya ng sinabi mo na during cold start hindi namamatay ang engine, kase may laman pang fuel ung carb kaya hindi namamatay. pero kapag medyo matagal na malamang maulit na magloko ulit vanette mo. I suggest na ipa ayos mo na yan at baka madamay pa ang fuel pump mo dahil mapupwersa yan.

hopefully fuel filter nga lang yan. sa akin nun pinalitan buong fuel line ko kasi di na ma-trace kung saan part may bara.

Our sentra had a similar problem:
- Namamatay bigla while cruising
- Minsan walang fuel na pumapasok while stepping on accelerator
- Mahirap i-start, pag namatayan

We did the following:
1. Changed the fuel filter - ganun pa din
2. Inspected/checked spark plugs - wala naman dun problema
3. Brought to a high-end car shop for electronics testing - found that the problem
was the distributor, mahina yung pumapasok na koryente sa system

Pinalitan yung distributor about 1.5K petot yata yun (surplus). Then yun, ayus na.

I followed your advices na subukan muna yung pinakamura, which is replacing the fuel filter. And thank God, ok na po siya!!! Salamat mga fellow tsikoteers, muntik ko nang ipatanggal ang fuel tank, whew!
