February 23rd, 2007 10:08 AM #21work horse ang diesel motor. It's a no nonsense engine that will keep running even beyond 300,000km. Tama si otep yung mga tao na nagsasabi nyan hindi pa nakakakita ng engine under the hood

onga pala.. followup ko din po tanong ni sir afrasay... how about direct injected diesels? i heard lots of horror stories about it po.. about our local diesel not being clean enough?
totoo po bang nagbabara lang is yung japanese brands dahil they use denso injectors which are sensitive sa dumi ng diesel?
korean and euro cars naman dont suffer from this dahil they use bosche?
tnx

Most direct injection systems are not that sensitive. Ang disadvantage ng DI is mas maingay siya (due to the inherent design of igniting fuel without a pre-chamber) kaya karamihan ng DI engines may plastic shroud to lessen noise levels.
Ang mas sensitive ay CRDi which uses very high pressure fuel. But Hyundai and Kia CRDi systems have been pretty much reliable as they have been in the market for quite a while (nauna pa sila sa mga Japanese na maglabas ng CRDi system locally).
Hopefully by this time nagtake na sila ng steps to solve the problem.
Yung Trooper 3.0 ba ay CRDi?

February 24th, 2007 12:54 PM #24just speculation, pero
-- karamihan ng diesels are RWD right? mas expensive ata magmaintain ng RWD kesa FWD?
-- usually kasi diesel vehicles are larger than petrol-fed cars. larger vehicles = larger parts = more expensive to replace. diesels also need more oil di ba? mantakin mong 2 gallons ang nagagamit sa PUJ, compared to 3-4 liters lang sa passenger car? di kasi nag uso ung light duty diesels dito sa atin e
-- and as mentioned, usually workhorse/panlaspag kasi talaga ung diesels; they're subjected to more abuse than private cars.

sir badkuk..
soon siguro magkakaroon din tayo ng light vehicles na.. diesel.. like they have in europe.. actually.. nagsisimula na yata eh.. sa alam ko meron na yung hyundai getz.. but.. medyo mahal.. compared sa gasoline version nya...
sir otep...
does that mean.. ok ang new pajero engine 4m41 for philippines? so.. ang nagkaproblema lang po talaga is yung toyotas and.. troopers? how about crosswinds and alterras? alam nyo po?
eh yung mga euro cars kaya na diesel? say... 530d... and.. yung much awaited 300C diesel na hindi parin nilalabas sa pinas... it is said that yung engine ng 300C ay mangagaling sa benz.. na 3.0L CRD... na... makakatakbo ng 0 to 100 in 7.2 sec.. imagine.. isang napakalaking sedan na diesel.. that can match an SIR's 0-100? which is said na dapat same price pag nilabas sa.. 3.5L v6.

February 24th, 2007 03:23 PM #27I'm an owner of an Isuzu elf 4be1 light truck..in my experience with diesel engines its more cost effective in maintaining one. as long as you regularly check for wears on your fan belt, loose bolts in you engine bay and engine support, wears on the wires of your alternator, your atf level, steering performance, battery water level(which is commonly neglected in diesel engines) including its clamps, check of oil level(which i do every day),regular change of engine oil and its oil filters(every 4T kms or roughly 2mos of daily use),water level in your radiator and its reservoir, cracks in your radiator hoses and a clean air filter..then your ride will give you a smooth start every morning you crank your engine..as long as you all of those mentioned above wala kang aalalahanin..ive been using mine for the past 6 yrs na and every visit to the emission test center less than 1% pa din ang grade nung makina ng truck...much to the delight of the emission personnels..ang pinaka major na naging problema ko is palit lang ng clutch disc..hehe..as with your injection pump being cleaned..hindi basta basta ginagalaw ito..unahin mong ayusin/palitan air filter mo baka marumi na at clogged o kaya yung hose na humahawak sa housing ng air filter(baka luma na at malambot kaya napitpit at walang mahigop na hangin) kaya mausok na sya..thats from my experience...my 2 sentimos

Panasonic Lead Acid is now under GS Yuasa. Sent from my SM-S901E using Tsikot Forums mobile app
Which is better? Amaron or Panasonic Battery?
