July 28th, 2008 03:16 PM #1Good day to all !!!
I want to ask your help and opinion again guys, my '93 Nissan JX(carburator) has a high idling, with or without aircon the idling is really high, the car will move without stepping its gas pedal.
I tried to udjust the idle control to the lowest possible but still doesnt work, I looked on the carburator spring but its in place but when i pushed it back the idle goes low to its normal idle but when i step on the gas pedal, then it goes back to high idling again.
Do you think my carburator needs an cleaning/overhaul ??? Can you guys recommend any carburator specialist that can fixed this high idling problem
Or is there any other things or parts to be observed as the culprit of this problem.
Hope to hear your ideas & experience regarding my cars problem.
Thank you in advance !!!

You may have a problem with the IAC motor. In regards as to what to do, get the car towed (DO NOT DRIVE) to a qualified repair shop for proper diagnosis and repair.

July 29th, 2008 07:16 AM #3check for vacuum leaks. it is possible that there is an uncontrolled air entering the intake manifold either through the carb itself or the vacuum lines. if its not the air leak, it may be a bad carb o-rings. if its the o-rings it may need an overhaul then.

July 29th, 2008 08:29 AM #4you may have a problem with your choke . if the control is coming from the alternator stator terminal, you should get 7volts ( engine running).
if the alternator is charging , you should check the single spade terminal at the back of alt . this usually corrode.

It's most likely a dirty carb. I had to regularly clean the carb and the linkages every so often.
When I experience that high idle issue, it means I'd have to clean the linkages around the choke area. It is a bit difficult to get to, cause it is at the back part of the carb. What happens is that the fast idle arm does not release properly from the fast idle cam from inside the choke housing. But it is the linkage to the fast idle arm that is outside the choke housing that is gummed up.
Try to remove the choke housing and check if the fast idle arm is stuck at the last cam step of the fast idle cam.
