mahal prestone... punta ka sa Ace hardware megamall. meron don 108/Liter. pare-pareho lang naman content ng coolants e. glycol + anti-rust + dye = yung neon green color is just a dye. use 50/50 blend with distilled -- take note, distilled not mineral water.

Any brand of coolant would do. The cheapest one is the one sold by Petron. The best I think which claims to last for 5 years or 200,000 kms is the one sold by Caltex (The one I use).

hmmm clarification lang. is this true for antifreeze also? kasi i noticed the antifreeeze+coolant they sell at pricesmart is even cheaper. would this be okay for our climate?

    roydok, the best iyan!

    maxwell,

    Chip,

di naman kailangan niyan dito sa atin...galing sigurong country iyan na may colder climate(actually repacked lang din ng CPInc. yung coolant nila dito)...as long as may coolant yung fluid walang kaso kahit may anti-freeze agents pa iyan...

    Chip,

basta ethylene glycol yung active ingredient ng coolant, it would automatically confer BOTH anti-freeze and anti-boil properties to the solution (would lower the freezing point and raise the boiling point), and it would probably have rust inhibitors as well. in other words, ethylene glycol aqueous solution is BOTH a coolant and an antifreeze

in other words, we still need antifreeze here in the tropics

    mbt is correct...

    dagdag lang...
-pure ethylene glycol boils at 187.2 degrees Celsius
-water boils at 100 degrees Celsius

-pure ethylene glycol freezes at -13.3 degrees Celsius
-ethylene glycol with 50% water solution freezes at much lower freezing points = -36.6 degrees Celsius
-water freezes at 0 degrees Celsius
-tropic temperatures don't go below 0 degrees Celsius...the anti-freeze property of ethylene glycol is just a bonus for users in the tropics...

Hi sirs, I'm a newbie when it comes to cars, I just learned to drive 1 month ago. Ask ko lang, pag long time na water ang ginagamit as radiator fluid, kailangan ko pa ba mag flush before using a real coolant?

One time nag top ako ng orange coolant sa green coolant, ayun nagkaroon ng gelling.

As a precaution I do not mix two different brands of coolant.

tanong lang mga sir... my vehicle is running without coolant eversince.
do you recommend that i put one na or stick to current na distilled lang nakalagay.

just worried kasi baka magloko if ever maglagay ako and also thinking (pwedeng mali pi ako) na since matagal na sya medyo mas mainit na ang engine nya at kailangan na lagyan ng coolant.

IMO, that'll be fine, as long as you'll still use distilled water, and not tap/mineral water. but if you want to spend for about Php 800 (coolant + distilled water + radiator flushing + labor), then go for it.

    good day po Sir....
ask ko lang po Sir bakit po kelangan e "distiiled water" and not "tap/mineral water" ang ilagay para sa radiator...paki educate lang po ako Sir sa kahalagahan ng "distilled water sa ating car radiator...TIA

That is to prevent sediment deposits which will cause coolant flow restriction and poor heat exchange in the cooling system.
