Help on how to prevent Rats from entering the engine bay

Saamin kasi rats and cats are dead on the spot pagpumasok ng gate.
They might also look for holes on soils made by rats.

kabuwisit talaga mga daga na yan. those little pesky critters gives me pain in the head. lately we had our plumbing under our sink gnawed by these little
devil rats/mouse. our plumbing is dripping since then. i tried to track these little maniacs into smitherins without luck. finally,one afternoon i saw the leader of their pack at our back yard, a very good size one munching on a piece of bone. silently, i took my bbgun inside the house and aim at the bastard immediately. i shot the hell out of it, firing squad execution style without mercy. the poor rat, fell on the ground intantly without flinching a muscle. i checked to see if there was any signs of life left, so i can give it a good whack on the head with the butt of my riffle. till now and then, still hasn't solved my problems with these critters. i put some rat baits underneath the sink. sometimes i see trails of their poops under the sink, where i placed the baits. siguro napapatae sila sa sakit ng tiyan. sometimes i smell the rotting flesh of these critters, but i cannot locate their carcasses. better luck for me next time to catch another critter, so i can target practice on them.

Well, nung may garahe pa ako, i always do the ff:

as soon as I get home, I park the car and leave the hood open... Have dinner, bathe etc... Pag malamig na sa may exhaust manifold, then I close it. Pouring water underneath the engine (between the tires) help to reduce the "cozy warmth" atmosphere for rats, cats, etc...

Yun friend ko din sabi sa akin yun BMW lang pinag iinitan ng daga, yun sentra nila and civic di daw pinapansin. Dun sa isang episode ng Rides meron din kotse silang inayos na binahayan na ng daga, and the rat was inside the glove compartment when they were dismantling it hehehe.

Sakin mataas ang success rate ko with those sticky boards + bait... one time I caught one (nakita ko pumasok sa house while I was opening the front door) so I left a board with a piece of leftover beef bait and placed it near the edge ng wall... The very next day andun na nakahiga sa malagkit na glue yung daga, buhay pa syempre, pero whole body stuck to the board.

Syempre umandar nanaman pagkamorbid ko, kumuha ako ng muriatic, pinatakan ko dahan-dahan yung mata... eventually namatay.

Iniwan ko yung board sa labas near the trash dump, 4 hrs later, isang mas malaking daga nadikit din dun hehe... so 2 rats with one board...

aside from our adopted "muning named batman" i put racumin ready made bait sa garage. safe naman ito sa pets dahil para lang siyang bigas. (sorry na lang pag me nagawing maya or tarat) para kesa pumasok sila sa loob ng bahay or mangalikot sa makina, makakapag snack na sila sa labas pa lang. nadale na rin kasi nila wiring ko sa break master.

thanks for your advices. We went to honda shaw this morning pero hindi nareplace yung insulator. Yung washer hose naman dinugtong lang ulit. Nainis kami ng mom ko kasi mali mali yung quote ng service advisor. Anyway, yung isang mechanic ng honda dinugtong yung hose and whala! yung washer gumagana ulit. Tapos they recommended us to have the engine washed, 760 daw. Hindi na tinuloy ng mom ko yung pa engine wash sa kanila kasi aabutin nanaman ng taon bago matapos yun kaya tumuloy kami sa bigberts ortigas, 200 pesos lang, mababantayan mo pa yung pag linis ng engine bay.

Anyway, nakataas yung hood niya ngayon and naglagay ko ng charcoal para mawala yung konting amoy ng pupu ng daga (thanks ild, baiskee and ownertype for the tip). Kasi sana mothballs ilalagay ko pero di pala safe. As for the bait, natatakot kami maglagay ng racumin sa garage dati kasi yung doggie namin baka kainin pero naglagay na ako ng racumin paste (tasty and attractive daw sa mga daga but safe to humans and pets) sa ilalim ng car. Nakataas yung hood. Sundan ko nga yung payo ni theveed.

Are there just some cars that are too easy to get into? When we were at Honda Alabang picking up my cousin's CRV, on the post-service inspection (kicking tires, checking for scuffs, checking the fluid levels) I noticed a cat sitting on the transmission, hidden behind the engine. Good thing we looked before starting the car (kung naipit siya sa belts? ugh)...

While I have cats sleeping on top of my car all the time, I haven't yet had a car sleeping in my engine bay....

niky: Yung Gen2 CRV may butas sa may wheelwell, cats,rats,etc can get in easy since medyo malaki yung butas.

had that same problem before mahina ang racumin we used an industrial rat poison to kill the damn vermints kasi parang wala sa kanila yung dora rat killer eh at yung sticky pad hindi din effective.

the cause for the rat infestation is that we used to feed our dogs at night iniiwan namin ang dog food turns out the rats are the ones eating them.

had to change my sparkplug cables a few months ago due to rats.

i crushed siliing labuyo, mixed with hot water, strain and pour liquid into atomizer. spray liberaly under the car to deter them from going up and into the engine bay. never had rat problems since.

Hmm wonder why, coz rats have been known to infest chili warehouses in India as well... O mas sanay sila sa anghang dun hehe.

Woh, never heard of rat problems at the engine bay until now. Scary problem. Dami nga puwedeng magloko sa sasakyan with potentially chewed insulation/wirings. Maybe the good presence of stray cats in our neighborhood is helping.

My problem are stray cats.

Yun rin lang problema sa mga pusa sa amin. Sa ibabaw naman ng engine hood tumatambay. Nag-enjoy sa tirang init ng makina.

Are those high-frequency rat repellant electronic devices effective? We used to have one (given as a gift) but I never used it... mas enjoy gumamit ng fly paper at airgun

talagang tinorture mo na walang patawad ung daga ah? muriatic acid?
instant bungo ung mukha ng daga. they can step in,but they can't get out.

Bro,iyon butas na sinira lang daga.di naman cguro maganda isara ang butas sa wheelwell baka for ventilation purposes din iyon
