i heard from my uncle that a gas version of the CRDi had been developed. i have to admit i'm a bit skeptical -- i mean, iba ang mode of operation ng diesel and gas engine, di ba?

alam ko meron talagang iba na they inject fuel directly into the combustion chamber instead of dun sa intake tract, yan ba yun?
FSi yun... Fuel Straight or Fuel Stratified Injection. Audi has it in lean-burn (stratified) mode in Europe, and in normal burn (straight) in the US. This is because the lean-burn mode produces too much emissions currently to pass US standards.
Mazda has direct injection on the Mazdaspeed 6 2.3 Turbo, too.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
Mukhang di nila tinuloy... strange, as they were quite advanced for their time.
I remember one Lancer owner trying to swap to GDi... ang hirap! Daming electronics, etcetera. Even the radiator fan was special!
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
Maybe nga he was referring to GDI. Late 90's pa lang meron nang 3.5L GDi V6 for the Paj.
have seen a few pajero's nga with the GDI engine.
i think VW also has it, and some outlanders (?)
it's just a swankier way of injecting the fuel, using much higher pressures (1000's of psi) rather than the tens of psi of our humble fuel pump. The result is the fuel is more finely dispersed, so it burns better and you can use less of it.
Mercedes recently released a new direct injection engine, its called CGI(Stratified-Charged Gasoline Injection).
The first model to use the 292hp 3.5 liter CGI V6 engine will be the CSL350 CGI.
