hindi ba kayo nagtataka na maraming sasakyan today na kailangan pang tanggalin ang intake manifold just to replace the plugs? yun ang isang reason na iba na ang design ngayon hindi kagaya dati na panay ang service natin sa ignition system. the last time i changed the plugs of my 22-year old car ay nung muntik ng ma ondoy (if ain't broke don't fix it).

Never even had a top overhaul. tappets lang ang inadjust that requires taking off the valve cover. syempre other wear and tear parts pinalitan including timing belt change and occasional tb cleaning. every 10k oil change interval and palit oil filter every 5k. 1st owner po kami. hehe
    - kaya nga mao-overhaul pa rin yan kasi hindi lahat ng parts ay designed to last a lifetime. Matagal kung sa matagal but ilan ba mileage kasi?

Pero if you want to make your vehicle conform to its performance standard kasi, eventually nga kahit top overhaul, aabutin talaga.

a year and half ago pinaltan un timing belt and tinakbo palang since napaltan ay 33,000 kms. recently pinahigpitan ko un belt dahil may kakaibang ingay then after nahigpitan medyo ayos na BUT the service manager seems to hear a noise pa daw na coming from the timing gear, front ng makina, etc. na kailangan buksan and worse i-overhaul ung engine if ever hindi maayos un ingay na naririnig niya. Celica un shop along araneta ave kahilera ng araneta car accessories.

ride is prado 90 series old suv nato mga sir and diesel. alam ko maingay makina ng diesel engine pero nun maluwag un timing belt medyo malakas ang ingay but after that ok naman na un sound like an old diesel engine na.......But this service manager is keep on insisting na buksan un timing gear, baklasin un radiator, ibaba un makina, etc.

i tell him na ok na muna then mag 2nd opinion(sa loob-loob ko lang to sinabe) ako kaso ayaw ako paalisin sa shop baka daw maputol o mapatid (kung ano man tong sinasabe niya) at lalo masira ang engine.

But i still went on going home and drove a little bit slow. hehehe!

Just want to know your stand, advice and help guys.

    Thanks in advance.

rubber seals and alike are easy to get to and do not need overhauls. pero sa katagalan kahit matino gamit, overhaul due to wear and tear. it does not mean kung parati ka change oil, yung internals ng engine would have no wear and tear.

marami rami na rin ako nagawang engine at karamihan sira lack of proper maintainance , kagaya ng natuyuan ng langis ,overheating at kung minsan dahil din sa engineering design.
meron engine na matibay talaga sometimes it goes over half a million km without overhaul . meron naman low mileage lang bigay na agad .

most engines sa proper maintainance lang ok na . malaking tulong sa pag extend ng life ng tsikots natin.

this is true only for gasoline engines that were labeled "extended maintenance interval", mostly after 1995 or so, could be earlier. these are the "100,000 miles first tune up" engines. for the lest fortunate of mortals (that means you and me) who do not happen to live in the US of A and the rest of the 1st world e sorry na lang tayo. even though the car manufacturers earn more from us (they mark up their vehicles much more in Asia while in the US they only earn $100 per vehicle on the average) they also give us the less reliable of their production, making us pay more 2 times since we end up fixing or replacing our cars faster.
