same with my 2004 adventure, ganyang ganyan din..may isa pa problem to that, kapag mababa menor namamatay kaya itinaas ko menor nya. kaya ngayon pag start kahet malamig makina ayos na, tas sinubukan ko palitan ng gas from 93 to 91, medyo nag pinto ang takbo ng makina. ang pinag tataka ko lang, kapag matagal na gamit let say mga 3-4 oras na gamit tas kapag na trapik at tumigil, bigla nahina koryente at nag memenor ulet. tas yun namamatay. tas pag start medyo oke na ulet. anu kaya ang problem kapag ganun mga bro? sinunud ko naman yung 4 na tanung pero, may oras din na nabalik sa dati..any idea about that mga expert bro..

If nag papalit ng spark plugs every 10k, i'm assuming na regular din ang oil change? Then if dati na nya ginagawa (yun pag rev at nagmamadali) at ngayon lang nangyare, assuming na same oil, hmm ano kaya....

The higher the number the colder the plug so thus a NGK BKR5E-11 is a hotter plug.

Also, if you engine rarely revs high then you also probably have carbon build up which can also cause some detonation.

Try cleaning the MAF sensor too.

Best way to clean carbon build-up is to take the car on the higway or open road and.drive it hard. You dont have to go high speed but making the vehicle reach redline on 1st-2nd-3rd gears with the a/c off helps.

Check also the fuel you use; could be a semI bad load of gas.

On the MAF sensor, that the sensor right after the airbox. If your mileage is already 60K and it hasnt been cleaned then chances are it's dirty. This reads the air inflow and helps calibrate the A-F mixture; during cold starts an engine runs rich on the AF mix and the detonation means you might be running lean on the cold start. You can buy electrical contact cleaner, remove the MAF and spray the sensor hotwires inside (jusy spray and let dry, dont touch it).

After cleaning the MAF, you can also disconnect the battery for a while to let the ECU reset. When you restart it might stumble a bit but as the settings adjust you'll settle back to a steady warmup idle.

I have a 23 y.o. Toyota previa that went through three a/c evaporators and 8 sets of tires and never have problem with sludge. Nothing special, I change the engine oil at 7,500 miles or six months. Just keep the engine at operating temperatures and use the right oil ( API SH or higher). Never tamper with the cooling system.

Even the Diesel Toyotas are prone to oil sludge?
