i have a toyota xl 90 model.im planning to replace the motor engine of my car,the current motor engine installed is 2E.anong magandang engine ang pwede kung ipalit na maganda aside from 2E kaysa gastusan ko sa overhaul,palitan ko nalang ng ibang engine.anyone can help me and recommend me a shop that can rebuild my engine.thanks guys

kung power gusto mo, 4AGE (downside power din sa consumo ng gas).

kung hindi ka nagmamadali and you plan to sell your car, rebuild the stock engine nalang para hindi gaano baratin when you want to sell it soon.

merun akong kakilala na mechanic (mga karerista dito ang major clients nya) yun nga lang sa Angeles pa.

You could choose between the 4AF or the 4AFE engines. The 4AF engine is the 16 valve carb version of the 4AFE engine. Its less powerful (roughly 95HP) but simplier to install.

The 4AFE is common engine used in 1.6L 16v corollas. It is rated at 110HP. The problem of using this engine is you will need more parts to swap this engine into your car. You will need to change the fuel pump and make sure the engine has its EFI wiring harness complete and undamaged.

medyo mahal nga ang 4AGE.. dapat magpapalit na din ako ng engine kasi blow-by na makina ko e.. sayang naman kung overhaul lang tapos konting dagdag na lang pala e mas magandang engine pa.. last i heard 4AGE blacktop is around 30K and the 4AGE silvertop is 50K.. or is it vice versa? nakalimutan ko na kung ano ang mas malakas.. silver ba or black? baliktad yata pero anyway rough estimate lang naman yun..

upgrading the 4AF to a 4AFE? ... if you are thinking of simply changing some parts, no. It would be simpler to do an engine swap to upgrade from a 4AF to a 4AFE since the 4AFE engine does have some sensors and other electronics required to make the engine run smoothly and reliably.

On the other hand, there used to be an "upgrade" kit to convert a carb engine to a basic fuel injected engine but I doubt if its available locally.

its the other way around.

the 4AGE 20valve silvertop is cheaper then the blacktop. And your estimated price doesn't include labor nor parts you will be replacing before installing a surplus engine like belts, filters, hoses, etc.

A 4AGE-20v silvertop (roughly 145hp) would cost around P50K installed with labor.
A 4AGE-20v blacktop (roughly 160hp) would cost around P70K installed with labor.

A cheaper option is the 4AGE 16valve engine. Its roughly 135hp.
