    Symptoms of a faulty ignition system, could be anything like the coil, wires, etc. Best to have it tuned up by a mechanic so they can rule out and pinpoint the faulty one

    Anong klaseng prolonged cranking ba? Yung mabagal na matagal o yung mabilis na matagal? Pacheck sa electrical shop soon bago ayaw na nya magstart altogether. Culprit can be anything from starter motor, spark plugs, weak battery or faulty alternator.

    if your mileage is more than 40K km, its time to change your fuel filter. preferably OEM for trouble-free. if your battery is more than 4 years, you might as well change it too. You dont want your car to die on you at any given situation....

    Before replacing any parts whether time/change or regular maintenance make sure you narrow down possibilities of the symptom. Does this engine start normal just after shut down?

    Do you hear a buzzing sound when you turn the key to ON (not START)? In almost all gasoline cars, when you switch the ignition ON, the electric fuel pump pressurizes the fuel system and stops once the set pressure is reached. This typically takes 1-2 seconds. If the 'buzzing' takes longer, the pump may already be weak or any of the fuel filters (strainer included) may be clogged.

    your fuel system is not holding fuel pressure. the possibilities are:
    fuel injectors are leaking- this would rresult in black sooty carbon build up at the spark plug tips;
    the fuel pump check valve is no longer capable of holding pressure;
    there might be an external leak along the fuel line;
    the fuel injectors o-rings might be leaking around the fuel rail.
    the fuel cap might be restricting airflow into the tank. if this symptom happens when the weather had been hot, then there is vacuum in the fuel tank that pulls the fuel in the rail back to the tank that would result in longer time pressurizing the fuel rail.

    if you smell raw fuel around the car, that would be a result of an external fuel leak.

    We have a Vios, 2010 E/AT

    I've experienced what you just posted. But it occurs rarely (like once in a year).

    After the engine has started, it misfires, then idles up.

    Lately, I did the liberty of pulling out the spark plugs and re-gapped them. Hindi na nangyayari so far.

    It seems like the casa mechanics beforehand just installed the plugs without checking the gaps. Puro out of spec lahat.

    Long cranking before start up and long feed back before response, that explains it
