hi po dieseldude. gusto po sana naming ilipat ng ibang shop ang alterra and have it checked thereat pero di na umaandar. the mechanic informed us na it is because of the damaged injectors and suction control valve problem. my family had decided to ltercontinue with the suggested repair by isuzu davao that offered a 20% discount on parts and labor sa 184+ na expense kesa ipa-tow pa ang car papunta sa ibang shop. sabi din kasi ng ibang shop na pinuntahan namin e baka ipasa ng isuzu ang liability sa shop na sasalo sa alterra pagpinull-out dun. ang plano muna namin ngaun is ipatanggal ang damaged injectors sa alterra and have them checked for a second opinion sa ibang shop. do you think this is wise? mga magkano kaya pacheck? we just hope na di nila pinalitan ng totoong damaged injectors yung sa amin.
sobrang bad trip na talaga kami ngaun sa isuzu. actually, 2nd major repair na to. the engine control unit was replaced in mid-2010 dahil nasira din. after this mess, we intend to dispose of our alterra this year, which we now believe has several design flaws.

June 4th, 2012 09:15 PM #5Hi DieselDude,
You seem to be in the know regarding Diesel Engines, and I am contemplating to jump into the Diesel arena. I have Nissan Vanette with a gas engine, and am a bit torn between maintaining the gas engine, or should I convert to diesel, perhaps a d4bx (4d56) engine.
I am, however, at the moment unable to find a reliable shop that would help me with the conversion process.
I'd like to hear your thoughts on this matter, if it is even possible (or a good idea) to convert to a diesel engine or not.
Looking forward to your reply.

June 5th, 2012 03:03 PM #6I don't recommend it. You can do the calculations. To calculate, you need the following info:
1) Your approximate travel distance per year
2) Number of years you intend to keep the Vanette after conversion
3) Cost per liter of gasoline and diesel fuel
4) Fuel consumption of your gasoline engine and estimated fuel consumption your desired diesel engine
5) Approximate cost of conversion
Do the math, and you will come up with a sound decision. Good Luck

The problem in your area is the absence of qualified independent workshops that can provide expert second opinion and service support on common rail diesel systems.
ang plano muna namin ngaun is ipatanggal ang damaged injectors sa alterra and have them checked for a second opinion sa ibang shop. do you think this is wise? Yes, this is correct. Have the supply pump and injectors tested by a qualified workshop.
mga magkano kaya pacheck? I will PM you.
we just hope na di nila pinalitan ng totoong damaged injectors yung sa amin. You can go to the casa and request them to pull down the pump and injectors in your presence. Did you previously authorize them to pull down your injectors? I recall that this car was sent to them for change oil and clutch service only.

sir, considering po na binuksan nila ang makina without my authorization, ano po kaya ang magandang gawin sa bagay na ito? nakausap na po namin ang OIC sa service pero wla ring nangyari. would a complaint with the DTI consumer protection desk suffice or is it better to file a criminal complaint with the court? by the way sir, how much will it cost for the check up of the injectors? thanks

thanks You're welcome...
It's looking a lot like a certain cruiser with that color scheme.
