was reading through the isuzu website when I came across this,
http://www.isuzu.co.jp/world/technol...oject2/04.html
ang tindi na pala ng diesel engine technology talaga sa Europe. para tayong nasa jurassic era compared to european diesel engines. Heck! the power and torque specs of their car engines can put to shame any full sized SUV diesel engine. consider the following examples:
Compact class: VW Passat 1.9 liter TDI 85 Kw * 4000rpm (114 hp) max output 285 Nm torque * 1900 rpm. nak ng! mas matindi pa sa Fuego supersport to a? and compact class pa lang yun?!?!
Midrange class: Mercedez E320 3.2 L (6 cylinders) 145 kw (194hp) * 4200 rpm max output 470 Nm torque * 1800 - 2600rpm.
and here comes the big shot of them all
Luxury class : Mercendez Benz S400 4liter V8 engine 184 kw (247hp) * 4000 rpm max output 560 Nm torque * 1700 - 2600rpm.
wowwowwwwwww! :whoa: :whoa:
but then of course... these cars also come with a very hefty price tag. *sigh* the good news is, Isuzu has developed a similar engine for the Honda civic, the isuzu 4EE2

kelan kaya makakarating yan sa Pinas?

Maganda rin yung diesel ng Ford Focus. Mated to a 6 speed tranny... oks daw performance, says Top Gear. Wala pang usok!

August 21st, 2003 01:40 AM #6bro ganda talaga mga diesel engines sa EC. Had the chance to travel the autobahn with a Benz and a VW Passat (mga 500 km) both with diesel engines and you woudnt think diesel engines siya. Sa hatak, bilis, usok at ingay nung engine kala mo petrol engine. We were travelling easily at 180 km/hr. Iba Euro mindset especially sa oto. They encourage LPG, biogas and other alternative fuels( with govt subsidies). Diesel is not a 2nd class fuel dun but oo nga their diesel is very clean compared to ours.

August 21st, 2003 02:08 AM #7TIngnann nyo pa lang diesel ng MB100. its the same engine in the old 300D?? benz. pero you'll see walang usok even after 5 years. power din maganda and matipid sa fuel. the only reason an MB100 tops out at 130kph is because rev limited ito. try adding a 6th gear. with my MB100, talo ko sa quarter mile yung smallest engine corolla. Nung nag van wars kami, drag racing for vans, talo ang lite ace and vanette. hi ace iwan talaga.
The engine was designed for a car so torque wise, kulang for a van. hirap umakyat pero bumabanat sa drag. hehe.
old tech 5cyl ng benz is still better designed than newer jap diesels.
Yung 3.0 ng bagong patrol is quite good too. biro mo pareho lang halos ang torque and hp nung 4.2 and 3.0.

Nice info. Kung ganyan siguro specs ng diesels dito ay siguradong dadami na mamimili ng diesels over gas.

August 21st, 2003 06:17 AM #9what I would like to see is compact cars with common rail fuel injection systems coupled with a turbo.
i'm pretty sure it will give those honda civic's a run for their money.
