Know your engine type\model first, ask around or look at the hood for the OEM recommended clearance for exhaust and intake in hot and cold temp.

In most cases if not all, it does not matter which direction you turn the crankshaft to turn the camshaft. Your cams are eccentrics with a base circle meaning, if the cam follower, in this case you rocker arms or valve bucket lifters are off the cam lobes (flanks and toes) or on the heel or base circle, it gives you the lowest position on the individual cams hence you have the clearance that you adjust. Most engines turn clockwise when viewed from the front except turbines on aircraft, Hondas and acuras and rear mounted bus engines

If the cam lobes are worn out, the cam lift and duration (angle of cam rotation from opening to closing) changes and should be replaced. The clearance in the specs should still be followed. If it still makes tappet noise, the cams are either worn out or misadjusted. Or sometimes like on Toyota 22re, 22 rc or 22rte, the tappet adjusting screw end wears out and you thought the clearance was sufficient until the cams rotate. In the latter case, you replace the rocker arm adjusting screw

Hayz nakwo! Masusunog ang mga valves mo. Look for a trained and knowledgeable technician and stay away from your mechanic

Some machine shops have the tools and know how to fix this. They can re-thread or re-tap that to original. In case of severe damage, slightly bigger diameter tap is needed. And the valve cover screw hole has to be machined. Machine shops can do this and tell you where to get the appropriate screw/bolt needed.

They just need to use a tap and dye set. It shouldn't cost much.

As for leaks I dont know.
