In Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines, more and more vehicle owners shifted to using coconut oil or palm oil as engine lubricant. Not only that is it cheaper and abundant, it is far superior than the expensive engine lubricant that is available on the market today.
more and more vehicle owners in the Philippines?!? ... Someone might be blowing wind out of his holes on this claim.

Although it is true that more and more vehicles are using coconut oil but as fuel (diesel fuel substitute) either as-is or when coconut oil is converted to bio-diesel. I have never heard of anyone using coconut oil as engine lubricant. For one, it is too thin to provide adequate protection against metal to metal friction.

One major problem is that coconut oil will gel at around 10C degrees. Imagine what damage that will result in your engine.
