I use Motul H-Tech Fully Synthetic (just a little over P2,000 for 4 liters), I only change once a year. I don't use the car heavily though, in a week siguro less than 200km ang byahe. Wala naman problems with that setup.
I don't think changing oil every 3 months is necessary unless you use the car heavily everyday, especially kung fully synthetic ang gamit. At most siguro every 6 months.

November 27th, 2010 01:33 AM #15this is a statement from an oil technician abroad, i asked him about the real deal re. oil change frequency: (synthetic oil to mga pare ha)
"one year, the oil can handle 10,000 miles and more."
i mentioned basically how the average filipino drives. (traffic sa city, out of town drives once in a while)
sadly, di ko natanong yung filter thing. but i will, very soon. tawagan ko na lang ulit..

Need suggestion halimbawa yong car di masyadong nagagamit within 6 months paandar lang 3x a week then some ikot-ikot lang in subdivision. Ano ang tamang sundin sa pag change oil running time or kilometer or monthly basis or depende sa quality ng langis na makikita sa dipstick?
4ja1 engine older model. more power to all...TIA

December 9th, 2010 10:37 PM #17know what oil your ride has in it. when using mineral oil, it is 5000 km or 3 months, whichever comes first. in fully synthetic oil, it is 10000 km or 6 months, whichever comes first.
now, car manuals always recommend to follow whichever comes first. i personally follow the distance (kilometers) rather than time (months) when changing oil.

I also follow the km travelled not time (months). change oil every 5,000 km using semi synthetic.

December 10th, 2010 01:12 AM #20in a way it is correct. once you put it in the engine, it gets contaminated. contaminated oil gets "spoiled". for storage purposes, it is adequate, however, once the car gets used again, kelangan na sya palitan.
it falls under severe driving, contrary to common sense.
too much fuel dilution, and the oil doesn't get the chance to reach operating temps (no chance to get rid of the fuel and/or other contaminants)
you'll have to drain and replace the oil sooner.
an alternative is to use it regularly for long drives. going out of town on weekends will help. masaya pa!
I went with him at LTO's The Link satellite office nung nag-renew sya. We were given a number to...
