I need some advise. Yung 98 Corolla ko ayaw mag start. May redondo, pero walang spark sa hitension wires. This happened all of a sudden, without symptoms. Nag park lang ako, then nung aalis na ako, ayaw na. Everything was fine prior to this. Fuel pump was tested and found working fine.
Here's what had already been done:
1) First suspect was distributor. Dinala kay Rey Electrical, pinalitan ang pickup coil (wasak na, labas na yung mga strands), condenser (nag leak na), igniter (bumuka na) at rotor. Tested, working fine. Kinabit sa oto, wala pa din lumalbas sa wires.
2) ECU. Was brought to someone who knows how to check, buo daw.
Ano kaya next na dapat i-check? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

March 1st, 2016 08:36 PM #3Yup, sinilip na. Binuksan kasi head just to be sure. Buo naman timing belt. No obvious issues nung binuksan ang head.

chineck ba ang voltage readings sa crank sensor?
may similar experience ako regarding jan. non-toyota but efi so basically the same approach. after checking the fuel system, ignition coils and its associated wiring, chineck ko yung crank sensor. frayed wiring on the crank sensor as well as corroded connections kaya ayaw magkaroon ng supply voltage. no spark din that time.
after the crank sensor e check din ang cam.

March 4th, 2016 03:35 AM #6Na try na ba diagnostic mode?may error code naman na lalabas just in case sensors or sa ecu ang problema.d gaano ka complicated i diagnose ang 4afe.Wag k lng makaka chamba ng mekaniko na kamag anak ni madam auring.hehehe.

bakit hindi isinama yung ignition coil sa mga pinalitan? although walang physical evidence na may sira sya pero baka naman po mahina na buga ng kuryente? and how was the distributor tested? kinabit ba sa ibang kotse? I'm, asking these questions kasi nangyari sakin yang ganyan (pero carbed oto ko) puro redondo lang... and the culprit was the ignition coil, ok sya pag tinetesting (spark test) malakas daw ang spark sabi sa shop (di ko na sasabihin kung anong shop) pero pag kinabit na ayaw magstart ng oto.
palit igniter, condenser etc., katulad ng ginawa sayo except for the ignition coil (kasi nga ok pa daw), ayun umandaw ng isang araw after that ayaw nanaman umistart. Balik nanaman sa shop, kuntodo testing ng kung ano-ano at napaandar naman ulit nila but sadly paguwi ko ganon nanaman!
so i decided na yung mekaniko na lang palitan ko. Nagikot ikot ako (habang umaandar pa oto) sa buong metro manila and i chanced upon a small autoshop somewhere in kamias kamuning at nagtanong ako kung may mekaniko sila at papatingnan ko problema ng oto ko. Sa madaling salita sinabi na nya agad "sir palitan natin ignition coil nyo, mahina na po buga ng kuryente", so pumayag ako tutal yun na lang naman ang hindi pa napapalitan sa distributor ko. And eventually nasolve na starting problem ng oto ko, in fact one-click na sya, di tulad nung dati nakaka ilang pihit pako ng susi bago sya mag start...hthLast edited by box_type; March 4th, 2016 at 08:46 AM.

March 6th, 2016 04:21 PM #9Kasi nga ok pa daw. Tinesting nila Rey Electrical, malakas daw. Nakita ko, nag spark naman talaga.
Then tinest din ng mekaniko na pinaikot daw yung distributor, may lumalabas naman daw sa wire. I didn't see this test personally, though.
Kanina lang, shorted TE1 and E1, then turned on the key. Continuous blinking lang ang CEL. I guess that means ok ang mga sensors?
