If the batt is old, it'S your batt. If it happens whatever the battery, then there's some issue with your alternator or a grounding issue or short.
Better have it checked at an auto electrical shop that repairs alternator and starter. They can diagnose your problem and do the repair if necessary.
check your batt for corrosion on terminals, "bukol" or if it isn't a maintenance free type, check the fluid levels. if all is clear, check your groundings, any previous electrical modifications and alternator.
hi all, how would i know if i my battery need to be charge? or if my battery indicator in my panel gauge says it all? is that reliable? sorry newbie
sa mga modern cars, yung battery indicator sa panel gauge is reliable na imo. but since indicator lang sya, baka pass or fail lang ang indication, better to seek advise sa casa (baka under warranty pa)
car batteries dont need to be charge.... if defective it needs to be replaced na...
your arbularyos are wrong. your automitive batteries are designed to be recharged when weak. all including lead acid, gel type and absorbed glass mat (AGM) batteries that is.you can not evaluate the battery capacity unless you attempt to charge it. if it fails to soak up charge or fails to perform on a battery load test, that is when you can decide to retire it. have your entire vehicle electrical system health checked. have the parasitic drain measured. around 30 mllliamps is acceptable with all the loads turned off and the ignition switch turned off, doors closed and the only thing loading the battery will be your electronic tuned radio (ETR), your clock, the keep alive memory to your engine computer and the alarm system. then have the charging rate checked with all the electrical loads (headlights on high beam) you can turn on except the starter motor with the engine running at about 2000 rpm. during this test, system voltage has to be at least 13.5 volts up to 15.1 volts depending on your car's specifications.
i don't trust the battery warning light. it usually lights up at around 9-10 volts. another reason why nagkabit ako ng voltmeter sa kabayo ko eh mamonitor ang overcharging hindi lang ang undercharging. kaso nga lang mali ang calibration ng analog gage na nabili ko. reading is 15 volts while my digital tester reads 14.35 volts.
also installed one on my pop's truck. funny, he was debating me last time that the ammeter is more reliable because it is connected to the alternator unlike the voltmeter where i just tapped to a switched 24v.
a clear sign would be hard starting of engine in the morning... battery is less than 12.6volts... optimal reading for an ok battery... headlight and horn dont function anymore... and best be bringing it to an authorized battery center... cuz most auto supply just know how to sell... they dont know how to service a battery....
Better have it examined at an vehicle electric store that maintenance alternator and beginner. They can identify your issue and do the fix if necessary.
