True. Brought it to a mechanic para macheck. Solenoid and carbon (something) daw ung cause. He suggested to have them replaced. I guess nasa starter itself ung problema since due to the starter contact, tama ba?
Correct me if im wrong pero kung papalagay ako ng relay it makes the starter hitting the contact point irrelevant, ganun ba yun?

It makes it irrelevant kung malipis na yung carbon brushes nya sa loob ng starter... sila na rin mag suggest sa iyo na palitan pati solenoid para isang baklasan na lang pwede rin naman nila i test yan via battery lang kung mag crank properly bago ikabit
ito yung itsura ng carbon brush na usual na unang nasisira sa loob ng starter

some cars have the electricity running from the battery to the key to the starter solenoid.. it's a long route that offers more resistance to the flow of electricity... when the battery gets a little weak, there isn't enough electricity to activate the solenoid..
to alleviate this, some cars use relays that effectively shorten the route the electricity has to travel to the solenoid, thus cutting down on resistance. these cars then start better..
what your mechanic is suggesting, is to put in a relay and minimize the resistance due to long cables..
Advice taken Dr. D!Will bring it to talyer on Dec 26 pa. The mechanic is suggesting either the carbon brush and starter solenoid. I might give it a go. I'm thinking kasi na pag pinalagyan ko muna ng relay tapos may tama rin pala yung solenoid at carbon brush eh baka bale wala rin.
I wanna ask narin, are there any cons of adding relay to the system?
I think I have problem with my servo din but I'll post it on a new thread.

Just as update guys:
Had may starter fixed na. Bale carbon brush and diode lang ng solenoid lang yung pinalitan.The rest in good condish pa.
Now it's working fine, one click start.
Just an observation though, compared to my other ride (which is a rav4 2005)... napansin ko lang na may millisecond delay before it starts... as in konting-konti lang. With my rav4 kasi sobrang real-time nung kabit ng kuryente, pero with the galant parang nagblink muna ng isang beses yung mata mo before it connects.

^ Ground connections tend to weaken as the vehicle age. Worth checking the grounding or better yet install additional grounding wires.
Added an hks grounding kit kanina. May lights have never been brighter!

Hi!
Magtatanong lang din sana regarding starter/alternator/battery since related naman yung topic sa thread na 'to sa concern ko.
The car is Honda City 1998 model. The past month ang hirap i-start nung kotse. Eto yung nangyayari:
1. Pag-start ko ng kotse, magcra-crank pero di tutuloy sa pag-start ng engine. Eventually (after 2-3 tries), hindi na magcra-crank, magiging clicking sound nalang naririnig ko.
2. Susubukan kong i-jump start and then aandar na siya kapag na-jump start.
3. For the next 2-3 weeks wala akong problema sa pag-start ng kotse. One turn lang ng key, aandar na ang engine.
4. After some time (mga 2-3 weeks), mahihirapan nanaman ako i-start yung kotse so susubukan ko nanaman i-jump start yung kotse and then magiging ok nanaman for some time yung pag-start ng kotse.
5. Kanina ayaw nanaman mag-start at clicking sound lang naririnig ko nung pinipihit ko na yung susi. Napansin ko rin kanina, parang humihina yung lights dun sa dashboard display. Pati yung clock nung car parang humihina rin ang pag-ilaw.
Notes:
1. Pina-check ko na twice yung battery sa motolite and twice sinabi saken na in good condition pa yung battery ( less than 3 years palang yung battery)
2. Mahigpit na yung terminals sa battery and malinis naman yun
Questions:
1. Starter ba or alternator ang problem?
2. May estimate ba kayo sa cost ng pagpalit ng starter or alternator?
2. Saan ba may matinong auto electrical shop dito sa Makati? Mga 3-4 electrical shops na kasi napuntahan ko rito sa Makati at aircon at radiator lang usually ang ginagawa nila. Walang makapag-diagnose confidently when it comes to wiring or alternator or starter problems.

Based sa mga sinabi ninyo sir, nawawalan ng karga yun battery ninyo. Gaano na po ba exactly katagal yun battery ninyo? Most probably kasi, battery ang problema ninyo at hindi alternator, dahil nakakargahan naman nang maayos ang battery ninyo. Rule out na ninyo ang starter since wala naman po siyang kinalaman sa paghina ng mga ilaw. Ang role lang naman ng starter eh i-crank ang engine para tumakbo.
