How often should I start my car to prevent my battery from draining?

I recently moved to a condo that's walking distance from my office so I hardly use my car anymore except on weekends. I was wondering, is once a week enough to prevent my battery from being drained or should I start/drive it around more often?

I have a 2008 Ford Focus (diesel) if that makes a difference.

Since ginagamit mo naman on weekends it should be sufficient, wag lang puro short trips

I start my car on weekends. I never had any problems.

Provided your vehicle has no electrical problems or undetected "electrical leech", the battery will not get drained (to the point of being unable to start the vehicle)even if you don't start the vehicle for at least 3 weeks.

If you use your vehicle on weekends then that is already sufficient to recharge your battery. Even short trips.

seriously, once a week is fine. no need to disconnect your battery. i use my personal car once or twice a week and it's perfectly fine, sometimes i won't be able to use it for 2-3 weeks and never really had any issues. dami nag sasabi kung ano ano dapat gawin mga praning lang mga yon, you'll only need to disconnect your battery if you're not going to use your car for 3-4weeks but 1-2 weeks no need. halos every other month i won't be able to use my car for 2 weeks and ok naman.

Pede mag ask.. Sa kakastart ko ng sasakyan ko kasi ayaw magstart kailangam itulak pa.. Natunaw ang negative terminal ng battery ko. Ano po ba pede gawin?

Before we didnt use our car in the province because of very rough roads. we just started it like 5 mins every morning every other day atleast.

on our old vehicles mga 10 mintues whether gas(carburator pa kasi) or diesel.

You are all paranoid.

My mazda bt50 (of course, diesel) does not get used for a month (i work 28 days on, 28 days off) so for a minimum of 30 days that i am away (28 days + 2 days travelling) it never gets used, started, charged, blah blah blah. Most of the time it is more than 30 days not used as i only start using it 4 days after i arrive and stop using it 5 days before i go. 1 click start pa din naman.

I will recommend start engine and drive your car everyday.

I am more worried of the thin oil in the cylinder walls. If this dries up, the cylinder walls have premature wearing.

You will also require frequent oil change intervals.

Besides, vehicles are not design for storage.

every 15 days for about 5 min running time provided there are no alternator problems

Garage queen is hooked up to the CTEK charger. We're using the DD during the lockdown to contain any possible contamination to one vehicle.

The 2017 Amaron in the DD is still going strong. It went through 2 CTEK reconds already since 2018 and I charge it up about once a month.

A brand new battery if left unused will last for 2 months... Without charging...
Kung bago battery mo once a month lang pwede na.. Start it for 30mins. Para ma full charge battery.. Or better buy ka nalang ng battery charger nasa 3k lang yun.. Then charge mo nalang pag gagamitin mo na... Mas tipid pa...

Question: Mas madali ba mamamatay ang battery ng "seldom used" vs "always in use" na sasakyan. Or pareho lang sila pwede umabot or mag exceed sa given warranty period lifespan? Yung sasakyan ko kasi dati, nung madalas ko siya ginagamit, bumigay ang battery after a year pa ng warranty period. Pero nung nabawasan ang paggamit ko sa kanya, bumigay naman ang battery weeks lang right after ng warranty period.

battery regardless of whatever nature has a limited life kahit lithuim ion pa yan kaya mag amaron ka na hehehehe but since were talking about lead acid battery mas madali siyang mamatay if in use rather than stored- due to electrical current or? ewan di ako electrical engineer eh baka mali din ako

Madaming factors dyan eh. Same battery models ba ginamit mo? Ano manufacturing dates ng batteries? Baka old stock yung 2nd battery? If bibili ng battery, make sure fresh batch ang battery.
