hybrids and electric vehicles

just curious if hybrids and electric vehicles are already in use in the philippines and if so, who services them and supply parts?

The prius has been around for several years already...and iirc, a chinese carmaker is selling a hybrid locally...byd ata.

Toyota has been selling the Prius here for years. BYD sells the Qin hybrid (1.5 turbo, 290 hp hybrid)

Honda sells the CR-Z.

Lexus sells several hybrids. CT200h, the GS450h, the LS, the NX and RX hybrids.

Mercedes dabbles in hybrid sales, but only for the S-Class, I believe.

Electric vehicles madami na kaso mostly unknown or generic then rebranded China products.
Yung mula sa major manufacturers, kaunti pa lang.

No point in any outside shop specializing in hybrids when there are only a handful of privately owned hybrids in the country.

The problem with setting up shop to service EVs and hybrids is the sheer variety.

First, you have the E-Jeeps and E-Bikes, which use either cheap hub motors or small industrial motors of up to 7 Kw, using off-the-shelf controllers and charge controllers (some don't even have charge balancers) and Lead Acid batteries.

Then you have the small number using Lithium in a proprietary system: Agila E-Bikes

Then you have the Toyotas and Lexuses, which use a proprietary nickel-metal hydride system. And at this point, you need special equipment to communicate with the PCMs.

Then there's BYD, which has its own proprietary lithium-type technology.

Then Mercedes, then Mazda with its super-capacitor system, etcetera...

Would be nice to have an aftermarket shop to handle all of that, but the more profitable route for the meantime is to specialize in souping up and repairing e-bikes.
