Have any of you guys experienced this? Idle remains normal without aircon... idle is still normal with aircon on.... then, idle idle goes down from 850rpm to around 500rpm when lights are turned on, radio is turned on, and wipers too(the aircon still on). What do you think is the problem here? Parang nahihirapan siya pag naka on na lahat. What do i need to check here? Alternator? Do I need those aftermarket grounding kits? Can u help me out guys...

try checking the stock grounding and probably replace worn out wires (crack or tumigas na wire).

then check the alternator voltage (go to your nearest suking electrician).

I have this very same problem!! Hassle talaga minsa!! The idling goes back to normal after dropping with everything on, but when i am cruising down the road then step on the clutch to brake or stop, bumababa ulit rpm to 500-600 at least once then normalizes again!! A grounding kit may help nga!!

Can you guys recommend a shop in or near ortigas who can do it?

    Thanks!!

    * mikey_civic - Sir, please inform me if you find a way to fix your problem! I'll let you know also if i have mine fixed!!

pero how come this never happens to my esi... dun lang sa carb hatch ko...almost the same age car. ung comp box kaya does a better job at regulating electrical load?..ewan, pero sana someone could enlighten us bout extra grounding..which would be better kaya change an old alternator that still basically works (probably has been overhauled) but not as efficient as it was 10 years ago or just buy a grounding kit? .. pero kase i get thie perception that a grounding kit would work wonders like magic to the car's electrical load..

older model vehicles tend to have corroded wires (ground wires often) so tumataas ang resistance nito..."shutting-off" the amperage o lakas ng current that flows into it.

older models also tend to have lower capacity alternators so they "charge" less.

older models also have older parts (like IC regulators)...and sinced matanda na yun, minsan or ofter the semiconductor in the IC is already failing.

mga peeps, just an update... i've just replace the bearings and carbon brush on my alternator (honda stock 70amps). pero ganun pa rin, everytime i switch on my double contact park lights(high wattage din cya), the lights at the gauges (e.g. tacho, speedo, clock, aircon switches) dims. there came a point nga when naka on lahat, tapos nag break ako.. bumaba yung idle to 300 then tumaas pa ang temp gauge ko. i know i wasn't overheating... my friend told me that i need to add grounding points since baka corroded na nga ang ground wires ko.. update u later pag nalagay ko na ang grounds.. hehe.

My ESi was like that recently..While mobiling and approches an stop light,my idling drops from 800 to 100 as I stepped on my breaks. From HONDA CASA they advised me to change ECU.So I bring my car to banaue and found a good shop and mechanic who especiallize w/ idling and ECU problems.

After hours of finding the problem we found out that the IAVC or air valve control was already busted inside. So from there we buy a surplus air valve control and clean the throttle body. And w-a-L-L-A!! its done!

I assume your car is civic also because of your handle.

Try cleaning the throttle body or carb of your car.Sometime even if it looks like clean outside that doesnt mean its clean inside.Sometime even the smallest hole in your carb or throttle body could make a big difference in your idling, try cleaning it.Remember "Looks could be deceiving".

    Just a suggestion.

the grounding kit will help a bit but check the wiring of your lights muna. you might need to put relays para di ganun kalakas kain ng kuryente.

    * kedrian- tnx for the advise bro! yeah, my car is a 97 vtec matic. i've already cleaned the throttle body with a carb cleaner, and yun nga, madumi na cya... pero after i have repaired my alternator, cleaned my T.B., ganun pa rin cya. when i stop into traffic with the lights and aircon on, the idle goes down to 300... nakakainis nga eh kasi nagba-vibrate yung car. i've done a vacuum leak test, okay naman cya, ala namang leaks. i guess, i'll just have to put additional ground wires(or grounding kit), and install some relays, see what happens. hahaaayyy...

update ko lang to mga bros.... pinalinisan ko yung IACV/throttle body ko with a carb cleaner... then pina-timing ko ulit, turns out out of timing cya(masyadong delayed). so ayun! oks na ang idling niya with or without aircon!

Thanks for update. Since idle ang problem kailangan lang pala ng tune-up ng engine performance.
Add ko na rin about electrical. The elctrician can do a voltage drop test kung kulang nga sa grounding ang engine or chassis. Its just a quick test can done not more than 10 minutes kailangan lang ng digital voltmeter or multi-meter.

electrical load?
