    Hello,

I would like to ask what should I do if my battery has been drained? My current battery is a low maintenance, Electron (i think it's N40 series). It just happened that I forgot to switch-off my park light when I arrived in the office around 7am. Then, when I leave the office around 11pm, I am not able to start the engine and realize that the battery was drained because the park light is not turn off. I call taxi for help and we try to do series charging but no luck. We also tried to make it "tulak" but still unable to start the engine. The last thing we did, is that we swap the battery from taxi to my honda city exi MT and the engine finally start.

I was able to bring my car today but I am worried that my battery will drain later again? What can you advise guys, is it possible to recharge my battery? Do I need to refill the battery with distilled water?

    TIA, Larry

add distilled water to the battery and recharge it accordingly to the specified voltage.

Just refill the water as a precaution.

The battery will recharged by the car's alternator to "normal" level if you use the car long enough. The battery will not discharge (again) as long as you don't forget to turn-off your lights.

Mga Sir, I was so wrong, d pala na drain ung tubig ng baterya. Nung i-check ko parang nasa low level pa. Do I still need to add distilled water kahit 1 liter lang? Thanks

Just add enough water to make it to the "normal" level if you have some distilled water. This would prevent the battery dying due to low battery water. If not, just have it topped up later.

Perhaps, the age of the battery needs consideration.

The most common bateries used now ar the start up batteries. These batteries have very tiny threads of lead and copper that if the batteries are discharged, the thread break and the battery life is drastically shortened since the threads cannot reform again.

This is unlike the deep cell batteries that have plates like the old old batteries when the charging mechanismwas stil the dynamo and not an alternator. The plates can still gather the lead of copper in solution to be part of the plate. This is very much unlike thee threads with our present starter batteries that are cut and can not reform.

Not sure now if Culmat still has the monopoly on the selling of battery "plates". Quote unquote kasi the "plates' are really a mesh of thread and copper threads. Not sure also if Culmat still sell two kinds of "plates". One if memory serves me right was called gauge 95 and the other some other gauge. One is thicker and has a guaranteed life of 2 years while the thinner gauge has a guarantee of only 6 months and if properly cared for a maximum guarantee of a year. The thicker gauged plates has a maximum guarantee of two years but according to my battery specialist can actually last to five years given the proper maintenance.

If the batteries that was drained does not function well either have th plates changed if possibl or if not, anew battery is a must for dependability.

And none of them did the parasitic drain( parasitic load) test? How sad. Search parasitic load test at motorage.com and do it yourself

Is this improvisation safe/common practice?? I never seen it done like that until then.

saka lang daw nila ginagamit ang HU kapag umaandar na ang makina. there are no other gadgets installed except the HU that was replaced, speakers are all stock including the sub. HU lang pinalitan and nagumpisa na mag-drain ang baterya. the battery is newly replaced 3sm motolite excel.

    Assume:
    Your starter has 3hp rating

    1 hp=746 watts

    3 hp=2238 watts

    2238/12 theoretical volts=186.5 amps

    Wire Gauges - Current Ratings

    Use AWG 0 cable

    ^ tnx bro

so i guess booster cables rated 300 amps would more than suffice for the monty. tnx!
