battery or alternator?

After driving for 30 minutes sa manila area and about to park my car sa house biglang namatay ang engine and ayaw ng mag crank. click sound lang maririnig mo. i also notice na biglang humina ang busina, power window, head light etc. What i did was check the battery and put some distilled water kasi medyo konti nalang tubig. then hiram ako battery sa neighbor din salpak ayun one click nag start na siya. Put back my battery then I drove around the city for about 30 minutes then turn off the engine. pag pihit ko ng key ayaw uli mag crank, click sound lang ang lumalabas.

mga sir ano po kaya ang dahilan? is it the battery or alternator? the battery light indicator is off when the engine is running kaya i presume the alternator is ok. di kaya hindi pa nag full charge yung battery kaya ayaw mag crank/start again.

my car is 3 mos old sentra. t.y.

but 3 mos palang ito. i think cover pa siya ng warranty. battery pala is outlast low maintenance. medyo pricey yata ang maintenance free.

My guess is alternator, considering na 3 mos. pa lang yung battery. Kung mahina yung battery, dapat may redondo yun kahit mahina. To be sure, do as redorange says, but be aware that some mechanics don't recommend this procedure

Yes sir that was what we did. removed my battery then put my neighbor's battery start the engine, ayun one click. then disconnect my neighbor's battery hindi namatay ang engine then put back my battery. after 30 minutes of driving ayaw uli mag crank.

Did you do the procedure and turn on any thing like the A/C, radio, etc.? Do a voltage check with the battery in the car and the motor running with all the accesories on to see if it's charging or not. I had a similar problem with my old Chevy Sprint/Geo Metro but it was because the alternator was over charging(if that makes sense) and it was burning itself out(not sure if it'as the correct term). Anyways we ended up changing the alternator again to another new one. Hopefully it's just the battery since you have a warranty to get it replaced.

yes sir. i'd turn on all accesories but noticed na humihina ang mga ito. everytime mag on ang aircon namamatay ang radio at humihina ang mga lights.

if i read it right (3mos old car), then bring it back to the casa and let them check and correct the problem

pwede mo naman pa check sa battery shop kung nagcha-charge pa yung alternator mo? 14 Volts.

brought my car sa casa today. they replace the battery ok na siya. buti nalang hindi alternator.

sir valskie, baka sira yung alternator mo, dalin mo sa dealer kse kung 3 months palang yan, cguradong under warranty pa yan.

nde yan battery kse, battery is just for starting the car, kung umandar na yung kotse yung alternator na yung nagsusupply ng power sa kotse. ngayon pag sira yung alternator sa battery kukuha ng power yung kotse instead na sa alternator kaya yung battery dahan dahan nadidischarge hanggang mamatay yung makina.

"NEVER" pull out the battery terminal while the car is running... maling way to ng pag check ng charging system( pasensya na dun sa nag post) thats a good way to really break your alternator....

pero the best way pa din is to bring it to the dealer for them to diagnose the problem

the casa was right. it's the battery, not the alternator.

always keep in my that when the BATTERY LIGHT IN YOUR DASHBOARD LIGHTS UP it means your ALTERNATOR HAS A PROBLEM. If it doesn't light up and your car wouldn't start, most of the time it's the battery.

Even if the car is only 3 months old, the battery might be an old stock from the supplier (e.g. Outlast). There is really no way to find out. At least they warranty it starting from the day you take delivery of the vehicle, not the production date of the battery.

I think battery talaga ang problema. akala ko kasi maintenance free yung battery ko and for 3 mos hindi ko ito nilagyan ng distilled water ayun pag check ko konti nalang water kaya cguro ito nasira . buti nalang pinalitan ng casa.

for 3 months nabawasaan ang water ng battery mo,try mo din pa check ang Voltage regulator mo,

more than six months na battery ko noon di pa din nag babago ang level ng tubig sa battery

i have a simmilar problem din.

kaninang lang ng umalis ako ng bahay, paglabas ko ng subdivision tumigil ko sandali pinatay ko makina. wala pang two minutes, i tried starting pero ayaw na. napansin ko din na sometimes sobrang hina to ayaw na gumana busina kahit na umaandar makina pero intermitent bumabalik sya tas nawawala ulit, di k naman napansin sa aircon at player na kinakapos ng power. btw napansin ko pag ayw mag start mahina yung ilaw sa indicator lights

kung battery bakit ng umalis ako ok naman then pinatay ko lanbg sandali ayaw na mag start?

kung alternator bakit apektado busina at bakit nung napandar na (tulak) nag rev rev lang ako for about mga 10 mins ok na naman sya.

posible ba na madischarged yung baterya ko kahit na umaandar makina.

dagdag pa dont know kung significant. twice na akong napundihan ng ilaw nitong last week lang at lagi na ako namamatayan ako ng makina pero nag statart naman ulit. all this problem started pala ng pinatngal ko fog lights. di pa nababalik hanganag ngayon.

Pa check mo electrical wiring mo baka may ground. Main suspect yung wiring ng fog lights.

how do i know na yun nga yung culprit? na nadidischarge yung baterya due to grounded wirings? posible ba to - na madischarge baterya kahit walang naka on na mga accs?

btw i insisted na ibalik ngayon yung foglights kahit d patapos trabaho nya
