battery or alternator?

After driving for 30 minutes sa manila area and about to park my car sa house biglang namatay ang engine and ayaw ng mag crank. click sound lang maririnig mo. i also notice na biglang humina ang busina, power window, head light etc. What i did was check the battery and put some distilled water kasi medyo konti nalang tubig. then hiram ako battery sa neighbor din salpak ayun one click nag start na siya. Put back my battery then I drove around the city for about 30 minutes then turn off the engine. pag pihit ko ng key ayaw uli mag crank, click sound lang ang lumalabas.

mga sir ano po kaya ang dahilan? is it the battery or alternator? the battery light indicator is off when the engine is running kaya i presume the alternator is ok. di kaya hindi pa nag full charge yung battery kaya ayaw mag crank/start again.

my car is 3 mos old sentra. t.y.

but 3 mos palang ito. i think cover pa siya ng warranty. battery pala is outlast low maintenance. medyo pricey yata ang maintenance free.

Start the car again and disconnect the battery if it dies then your alternator is shot.

My guess is alternator, considering na 3 mos. pa lang yung battery. Kung mahina yung battery, dapat may redondo yun kahit mahina. To be sure, do as redorange says, but be aware that some mechanics don't recommend this procedure

Yes sir that was what we did. removed my battery then put my neighbor's battery start the engine, ayun one click. then disconnect my neighbor's battery hindi namatay ang engine then put back my battery. after 30 minutes of driving ayaw uli mag crank.

Did you do the procedure and turn on any thing like the A/C, radio, etc.? Do a voltage check with the battery in the car and the motor running with all the accesories on to see if it's charging or not. I had a similar problem with my old Chevy Sprint/Geo Metro but it was because the alternator was over charging(if that makes sense) and it was burning itself out(not sure if it'as the correct term). Anyways we ended up changing the alternator again to another new one. Hopefully it's just the battery since you have a warranty to get it replaced.

yes sir. i'd turn on all accesories but noticed na humihina ang mga ito. everytime mag on ang aircon namamatay ang radio at humihina ang mga lights.
