Bingo...never have your engine washed for any reason. Have it detailed instead at reputable detailing centers. A lot of engine parts are never intended to get wet (alternator, electrical wirings, injectors, etc). Even if the car wash boy wraps some parts with plastic, they use pressurized water that still finds its way to these fragile areas.
