It's sort of like Dodge's Ford Everest. Basically a Dakota pick up with a closed back. Not that refined but still quite competitive. Leaf springs at the back. Third row seats were optional.

Locally, I'd just get something else.

I just observed the Durango last 2 days ako sa shopwise. sing-haba ng dala ko chevy venture van. malamang sing-haba din ito ng chevy trailblazer.

ewan ko lang ha, pero para hindi enjoy dalhin mga ultra long vehicles kahit SUV pa ito. but of course, the expedition is an exception.

OTEP, he said "2004-present Dodge Durango", that means the current 2nd gen model.
The current 2nd gen Durango is no longer based on a Dakota pickup(which is also all-new by the way), the Durango is now bigger and rides on its on chassis(fully hydroformed frame). Rear suspension now uses coil springs, live axle with trailing arms and Watt linkage. 3rd row seats are now standard by the way.

People tend to underestimate the Durango because of its styling.

...value for money, the current Durango is nearly as big as an Expedition(its now classified as a large SUV(full-size) but retains its mid-size SUV pricing.
    The 4X4 Durango with a 4.7 liter V8 costs P2.55M

the Durango will be getting a facelift for the 2007MY.

my friend has one. i don't like the styling (pero kanya-kanya yan of course), and the interior materials feel inferior to that of, say, a Honda or Toyota SUV in the same price range. it's also really, really bad on gas mileage.

it's very roomy, can swallow up a lot of people and cargo, and can tow very heavy loads (typical american SUV), but i still feel the ride is too trucklike compared to some of its competitors....which is ok if you're willing to sacrifice comfort for utility.

For me, the 2008 5.7L Hemi V8 is awesome. It's got the power, 335hp & 370 lb-feet of torque. They say it's the most powerful SUV in its class. One little tap on the gas pedal and zoom it goes. Went up to Bagiuo via Kennon Road with 6 adults and all the luggages for 3 days, no problem at all. Cornering is very good for a truck this size. The ride is more comfortable when it's loaded and the good thing is the power pick up is basically the same as if there is no load. Comfort is ok. I believe if you want real comfort get a big car, not an SUV.

You are right, each to his own when it comes to styling. DD is like a bull on its haunches ready to lunge forward. The other reason why I like DD is that it's not common unlike the exped's and tahoe's me too appeal. Although very good, the Honda Pilot only has 3.5L V6 and is in a different SUV category while the locally available LC100 is only a 4.2L I6 diesel but is almost P1M more expensive.

Overall for me, the 2008 Dodge Durango is a good mid to large SUV package.
