    I recently had disc brakes installed in my '67 mustang convertible plus a rack & pinion kit.

    I showed the pic to a friend who's also a muscle car enthusiast based in Makati. Well, he basically frowned on the modern technology coz accdg to him it violates the spirit of the car. He obviously is a purist in this sense.

    I don't mind putting new technology in an old car to improve its performance and ofcourse safety. Even Jay Leno's classic car has new technology under the hood but its all "stock" when you look at it from the outside.

    personally i'd prefer to have new tech on an old car...makes it more driveable and safe at the same time. the looks is the most important IMO

    Me too I dont mind putting new technology to an old car it will improve the performance and safety of the old car just like ILD said..

    1st & 2nd pics are the front disc brake system, 3rd & 4th are rear discs, and 5th is the rack & pinion steering system.

    With the souped up V8 that will be installed, I would like to make sure that the car will stop when it ought to stop. Besides, 60's steering technology really sucks, hence, the rack & pinion thingy.

    Well, some guys are reaaaally purists when it comes to restoring classic cars.

    It really depends on how you view the car.

    If it is just a status symbol or a financial investment, sure, keep everything original... but I'd rather have a compromised value car that performs to my expectations rather than a valuable original that's a danger to me on the road.

    Besides, if you're already going to soup up the engine, you might as well go the whole hog.

    I would like to replace the Beetle's drum brakes with discs from the Super Beetle of 74... for safety reasons, because the car will still be used half the time.

    If I were to restore it faithfully and leave it in a museum I would retain the drums.

    It's the same argument with putting air conditioning on Beetle's...

    Don't worry about the purists, if given a choice they will opt for a set of disc brakes and rack and pinion.

    The handling of the first generation Mustang was great during its time, pero not competative in todays generation.

    Baka naman dun sa may-ari ng tinest drive mo na 350GT pinakita, eh talagang di padadapuan sa kahit anong upgrade yung PONY nya. Ako man ng meron na orig 350GT di ko lalagyan ng restomod. Pero kung di naman ultra classic at gagamitin mo talaga, kelangan ang upgrade to be competative.

    Kahit nga sa States malaki ang market ng TCP kasi talagang nakaktakot gamitin ang Mustang lalo na pag naka power steering.

    ironically, some hot rodders would even cover up their modern disc brakes with drum-looking housings to maintain a stock look for their 40's ford. (nakita ko sa Rides hehe).

    ganda ng slotted rotors mo sir woodfire

    im thinking of going the same route din, pero kahit ordinary rotors lang para pasok sa budget. hehe

    i'd prefer adding new tech for safety reasons, lalo na if you'll be running it once in a while.

    freak him out by putting cross-drilled, slotted rotors with 12-pot calipers. :lol:

    I guess its acceptable since you're not restoring your '67 Mustang to its original "Showroom" condition anyway.
    Btw, What are the engine specs and wheels?

    engine? it's a 289c.i. engine but I uprated it for modern street use. I installed an edelbrock performer aluminum cylinder heads,and edelbrock thunder series 650cfm carburetor. TURBO a.k.a. Deo Concepcion sold me a hotter cam, roller rockers, solid lifters, and a surplus edelbrock performer aluminum intake manifold.

    wheels are pre-owned 15x8 american racing torque thrust. tires are bf goodrich radial T/A's (215 & 225 60 series).

    that's ok,anything for performance..the only thing that stops one from putting modifications in classics especially when it comes to ford mustangs is the fact that ford performance parts are triple the cost of chevy...but when it comes to brakes, that's better, discs na talaga maganda ilagay sa ponies..hahah actually that's the weakness of mustangs eh..haha big engine, a lot of power and torque sa midsize body,kaya lang walang stopping power to tame that adrenaline haha kaya tama lang yan...if ever you modified your ride by putting a lot of speakers,fiber glass and drilled holes anywhere siguro yun pa sayang kotse, but for performance...i do not think so...and wait you know anyone selling any 65-69 steeds v8 289 or 260? maski dapa na i need a new project eh...

    If you built the car to be used, it's ok to modernize. Unless you are building a museum piece or garage decoration.

    Dun sa '46 Ford kakalagay lang namin ng electric fuel pump (pang-Toyota ata). Also added a/c and aux fans. Naka CD player pa. Also used modern relays and fuses.

    But it does not detract from the charm of the vehicle. It even makes using it more pleasurable and reliable.

    New tech on an old car? Parang sleeper mod. Not bad, actually.

    It's one of the reasons why the Nissan Verita appeals to me. Retro aesthetics matched with modern-day amenities.
