Optra's airbag

I heard that an accident in Ayala ave involving an Optra (owned by a schoolmate of mine from a high school higher batch) and a taxi almost two weeks ago. The airbag of an Optra didnt deploy. What can you say?

Any idea on the the circumstances surrounding the accident (i.e. manner of impact, type of impact, etc.)? That would be helpful in determining if an airbag deployment was warranted.

Airbag sensors only deploy the airbags at a certain force threshold.

Kung mga 50kph na yung head on and hindi pa rin nag deploy, there's something wrong talaga. kung mga 30kph lang, i think borderline pa.

According to my Ford Hand book..the airbag should deploy at a minimum speed of 8 kph upon frontal collision.

May optra kami kaso hindi namin masyado nagagamit because of the rising oil price...Di ba dapat magdeploy pa rin yung airbag kahit na malakas ang impact tapos head on collision pa yun?
Pambihira SRS pa naman yung airbag na nakalagay...

Mura kase ang optra tapos ganda pa ng loob malaki legroom sa likod the bad thing is korea parts ang optra tapos ang mahal pa ang labo nga eh...

ganda kasi ng specs ng optra.. halos top of the line na corolla for the price of low-end corolla.. kaso laging bad experience nababasa ko dito sa tsikot hehe..

You can use Daewoo parts (since they manufacture the Optra). Madami nun sa Banawe. Mahal talaga ang piyesa at services sa GM dealer. Irregardless of vehicle model.

As for the airbag, hindi speed ang trigger nito kundi g forces. If the g forces of the crash were not high enough, the airbags will not deploy. The computer assumes that the crumple zone and seatbelts are enough for the given situation.

So ALWAYS wear your seatbelt.

hmmm... baka nmn hindi naka seatbelt ung driver? cos sa expe, sbe, the airbag won't deploy if the seatbelt isn't buckled.

dapat tuwing me potential costumers ang GM for optra pakita talaga nila by way of actual test saang lugar man iyon the thing really deploys;
daming mawawasak na optra pag nagkataon sa testing palang.. peace.
