July 13th, 2009 08:10 AM #1Hey guys,
I'm just wondering how come my Optra lately smells like gasoline. Though when we checked, we didn't find any leaks in the lines though there's like accumulation of wet dirt with a very minimal smell of gasoline on the tank. Is it possible to have a hole on the top of the gas tank which is actually under the car and not prone to being damaged?
thanks

The cap of your gas tank (where fuel is filled by the gas boy) has a breather that allows vapors of gas to escape the tank into the air.
Not pretty sure whether it's in the gas that we fill-up with lately or if it's with the heat that causes plenty of vapors to go out hence the smell.
Both of my unleaded-fed vehicles have the same problem for so many months now. Whenever I exit the vehicle the scent of gas pops up - everything's checked and both dealers (different brand of vehicles btw) said all's fine, but none were really able to explain why - all they gave me was the explanation I stated on the first paragraph.

Be careful with channels like "China Observer" on YouTube. There is a clear bias in their posts and...
