According to motioncars.com, the Chevy Optra is a rebadged Daewoo Nubira(?). Units to be sold here are coming straight from Korea. The design and styling I think (not sure) is italian though.
well, the ads say it's pininfarina styled. uso ata ang korean cars na dinidesign ng pininfarina e. the hyundai matrix is another example.
kevin, ok sig mo a! sino ba talaga? si connie o si papa monty? hehehe! see you next gp!
haha! dunno how to cut monty out of the picture e. naka-link lang yung sig.Originally posted by Paul

based nga on the daewoo nubira. kaya ang pangit ng grille. irerelease din pala siya as a suzuki sa US.
the chevrolet optra is entirely built in thailand, yung aveo naman from korea, yung zafira naman from germany, international eh, hehehe.
Hindi ba nasa Thailand ang factory ng Zafira? Chevy even made a big fuss of showing it to the media back then.

the zafira is an opel zafira re-badged as a chevy. don't know if it's CBU from germany though
yup based on the daewoo nubira... sana they changed the grille design a bit. top gear once had an article on the nubira and they found the grille too "corporate" looking... i agree. they also said something to the effect na it was hard to stay conscious in the "adrenaline free" car, hehe... top gear talaga, i think tiff needel wrote the article.
okay yung rear lights though, reminds me of lynx/new lancer lights, very u.s. (in a good way)...
i said in a good way kasi yung evo 8 tailights eh mukhang targeted for the u.s. market talaga and i don't like the tailights on that one at all, ganda na nung sa evo 7 eh... imho lang naman.
amen to that tarmac! i hate te new evo8 tail lights. mazda6's are better though with the same design. imo din.
OT: I think im the first guy to cut an optra on the road hehe :D
Saw this black unit from behind.... quite nice from there... its got this CTS thing going for it.....pero.............
ANG PANGIT NG FASCIA! :suka:
*i also posted this in another thread, but this might be relevant for all those interested in the optra specifically*
checked out the chevrolet optra and the aveo today. with my fascination for small cars, the aveo looks very interesting. current prices are:
aveo 1.5 m/t 575K
aveo 1.5 a/t 615K
optra 1.6 m/t 675K
optra 1.6 a/t 715k
The aveo looks ok to me, parang pang first car, with nice, hip colors to choose from. no safety features though, except for seatbelt and immobilizer. no airbags, nor ABS. like the barebones vios or city. rear sets can be folded for added trunk space, sort of like the city.
The optra is really like the lynx in that its good value for money. it's got everything for only 715K. I even like the exterior. Kaso, di ko gusto ang interior niya, don't like the combination of black and beige, didn't like the gauges. baka a matter of taste though. saving grace is the sound system, which is really nice (blaupunkt, am/fm, casette, 5 disc in-dash, with 4 speakers and 4 tweeters).
GM autoworld also has a promo for the chevrolet: 2 years free PMS, on top of the 3 year/100km warranty.
i had the chance to sit in an Optra yesterday while waiting for our car to be serviced.
initial comments:
- better avoid the M/T version of this car. the clutch feels incredibly soggy, nothing at all like the precise feel of a Honda clutch. the shifter feels like it's sitting in a bowl of tofu too... while the throws are definite, they feel soggy as well.
- there's a dead pedal for the driver's left foot. good.
- the black + beige + alumimum accented interior is cheerier than the usual Japanese monochrome.
- space at the rear seat is good, toe room under the front seats is good too. however, that toe room is compromised by a bar under the driver's seat that blocks your foot.
- the rear styling is quite sharp, the front is less so.
- four wheel disc brakes with ABS.
- 3 year / 100,000 km warranty on this one. GM Autoworld will also give buyers free preventive maintenance service for 2 years / 30,000 km (not sure on exactly on the figure, but the free PMS is there).
the zafiras are cbus from thailand, and tama sabi ni paul, opel talaga siya. the optra naman, overall is a good car, talagang it all boils down to what the buyer prefers, and whats amazing, sa optra, comparable ang acceleration niya sa altis 1.6 as in, konting konti lang ang difference, i saw it with my own eyes when two of my friends tested both vehicles, kaya kung ako ang bibili, ang pipiliin ko ay.................
ako rin..got a chance to sit in an optra...
styling is not that bad except that front grille...interior was quite nice and pleasant...
all in all...not bad for a korean car![]()
nakita ko sa news papers and eventully i visit the site na mura lang pala itong chevrolet optra compared to other japaneese cars pero bat hindi siya ganong ka dame it means konti lang ang bumibili pero mukang maganda naman http://www.generalmotors.com.ph/cont.../ALS/BOALS.htm imagine yung 1.6 nila na manual has a srp of only 635k all powered na and ang engine ay1.6l l4 dohc 16v
well...bagong labas pa kaya konti palang...pero when i visited gm shaw, ang daming optra dun na scheduled for release..
kapag nasa daan na..gumaganda na rin sya hindi na mukhang eng eng ang harapan..parang lynx na rin ang dating
2 reviews on the optra. It seems that there is a 1.8 variant being sold in other countries.
