They just told us that the insurance will take care of it.Im hoping nothing comes after these defects.

hero, ok, tnx anyways! i'll try to do what you said, hopefully, i can get this over with.
about the stereo, dili yan defect, ganan talaga ang design, it will shut down if you turn off the car, but if you turn the stereo on while the car is off, then it won't shut down automatically

What GM did was they penetrate the market in korea. second, optra was built and manufactured in GM Thailand with 100%pure american quallity and standards, aside from GM china,it is clearly that GM has this worldwide commitment globally not only in US, Europe, Autralia but also in Asia. the articles from C magazines re the optra actually are based all in facts, it was written by car enthusiasts sharing their opinion to the market. take their advices, if not satisfied visit chevrolet pasig for further clarifications. parts? no problem. GM are giving it for free for 2 years or 30,000km w/c ever comes first (aftersales service/ periodic maintenance service-that's parts and labor) imagine yung savings mo pag dating sa aftersales, how convenient diba, just bring your car in the casa(casa maintained) tapos pag labas mo wala kang babayaran. and with the warranty of 3years or 100000km w/c ever comes first grabe ang security mo ang ganda diba, wala kang babayaran even a single cent. kung mahal ang parts namin, hindi namin ibibigay ng libre yan sa mga 3,890 owners ng optra as of today and we're talking of genuine parts. Features of the optra ay napakadami, if your going to compare it spec by spec s competitors nya panalo ang optra with that price range, binusog natin ung car ng mga features with that prices range. I can give you a presentation baka makatulong s pag decide nyo. para sa my mga problems and concerns optra owners, if you have problems on your optra units dalin nyo sa chevy pasig aayusin lahat yan.

    HERE GOES:

The Ford Lynx IS a rebadged Mazda 323 variant, but is not being phased out for another two or three model years (earliest is probably late 2005-2006).

Good sales and an old, inexpensive, and well-designed platform (better handling and stiffer than many newer compact class platforms), as well as features that cater well to asian tastes, are keeping this dinosaur alive, much like what happened with the B14 Sentra between 1996-2001.

The Lynx keeps the previous generation Mazda Protege interior and chassis, while having a body style and design all its own. As for parts and servicing, ALL Ford Service Centers carry parts for the Lynx, and, as these are usable for previous generation 323s, there isn't much hurry for them to stop stocking parts. Columbia Motors just stopped making Mazda parts, true, but there is a steady influx of Japanese and Asian parts on the market.
    __________

The Chevrolet Optra IS a Daewoo Nubira / Suzuki Forenza. All three cars share THE EXACT SAME body panels and interiors. The ONLY COSMETIC OR MECHANICAL DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE THREE IS THE FRONT GRILLE. The names for the cars may have changed, but the manufacturing processes remain EXACTLY the same. Although the Chevrolet Optra is, by all accounts, a competent automobile, it is still a generation behind the current Lynx, and two generations behind current Japanese products.

The Optra, as a Global Car, was developed in toto by Daewoo as the Nubira, with inputs from Italian Design house Pinifarinna (sp.?) and with suspension tuned by the Europeans, too. The Nubira was a good effort when it was first released, a competent car. With Daewoo dwindling in many Asian markets, GM picked the Nubira as the perfect vehicle to spearhead Chevrolet's advance into Asia.

One thing, though... the Optra is made in Thailand, while the Lynx is made in the Philippines. It has been noted that Philippine construction (vis a vis the Ford Lynx RS and the Nissan X-Trail) is exemplary, and in certain situations, may meet or exceed Japanese standards. There is a big question as to Thai quality control... almost as big as the conundrums we Nissan owners have suffered with Taiwanese quality control in the case of Nissan Yulon.

This is not to say Philippine construction is perfect... just that it may be more competent.

    __________

A warranty, by the way, is a warranty. Anything covered under warranty is replaced for free IF IT CAN BE PROVEN THEY WERE DEFECTIVE IN THE FIRST PLACE. Read the fine print in the warranties... they are ALL THE SAME.

If you are happy with your warranty, mr.puti... I am much happier with my 125,000km / 5 year warranty, and, when I have exceeded the warranty, the cheapness and availability of regular Lynx parts at any Ford dealer... at prices I find amazing for original parts... let alone dealership-sourced original parts.

Mr. Puti... be happy with what you have... but don't go picking a fight over your head... I am happy with my Lynx, but in NO WAY would I compare the quality and reliability to a Honda Civic or a Toyota Altis. Be happy with your Optra, but don't compare it to my Lynx until you actually know what you're talking about. :D

Sorta OT but, I think Mr. Puti is from Chevrolet Pasig wherever that is and is most likely a salesman/officer there.

Even the grammar sounds like a used car dealer talk.

mazda lynx ang re-badge ng ford
tthen it is a good thing. some excerpts about the last gen mazda protege: from C&D "If the previous Protegé ES was, as we asserted, "a disciplined machine, with quick, sure suspension responses," then its successor is even more so, which should help it hang onto its title as lord of the flies, at least for the time being. " heck, the mazdaspeed protege can even out hustle a ferrari 360 in the slalom test - that's how good it is.

btw, why didn't you answer the queries of hotshot about his LEMONY optra?

in the last issue of C!, they were also a couple of complains about the Optra. among them is its dismal fuel consumption and loose tranny.

btw, am a supporter of the Chevy Optra (and other Chevy vehicles) for excelling in giving good value for money. but your comments are just way overboard and I think that I won't be visiting Chevy Pasig anytime soon.

    niky, nice comment bro.

Nice comments, too mazdamazda... Protégé fans unite!!!

Mukhang nabasa mo rin ang comparo ng Road and Track (Great Grip!), where the Mazda Protégé came in last merely because it was the only front wheel drive and all the other cars were faster... (and *ahem* more expensive) ...pero talo pa rin sila sa slalom numbers ng MP3/Lynx RS...

stereo ok un as a feature ngf unit kc even without the key pwede kang mag radio. pero in real situation, diba marunong tayong mag drive, tpos marunong tayo sa auto? sympre ako, I see to it na before i leave my car i see to it na of lahat ng switches ko ganun lang make it a habit. kung nag-on eh di i-off. hehe

ooops wala akong hinaing ha, bakit totoo naman ah even sa mga articles and news papers at ads ng chevy, black and white, andun lahat ng benefit ng optra owners diba..

nga pala my kakaibang feature daw ung a/t nila. testdrive kayo ulit, tpos pakiramdaman mo ng husto.

fuel consuption- are based on outside factors like: traffic diba, driving habit ng driver, road conditions, ang main reason talagang nag mahal ang gasolina kahit anong gawin pagtitipid mahal pa rin. my driving technique sa optra..hehehe mas lalo sa a/t.

yeah im hapi with my optra, i know what im talking about, #3 ang optra sa 1.6 segment sa market-una ang altis tapos honda. syempre maganda quality nila.... incomparable (( but in NO WAY would I compare the quality and reliability to a Honda Civic or a Toyota Altis)), pero 3 hindi 4 hindi 5... ganda pla ng mazda 3 bagong bago syempre kung mag iinvest ka eh di sa bago nang model. biglang kabig noh

road condition, no no no, i dont think road condition is the factor for my high fuel consumption, i can let you drive my car around the highway all day long with aircon on, lets see how good you can go with my optra, do you want to bet with me? i mean does GM Autoworld want to bet with me? if you can get a fuel consumption of 8km/l on my car with a/c on and no free wheeling, then i'll shut up and tell my self that im just a lousy driver, but if you cant reach that, then GM Autoworld would buy back my car?? i'll take this bet anytime anyday, no hesitation

go back to the CASA and let them fix my car?? how many times do i have to go? is 20 times enough? i dont think so, in my experience, im sure i've been there for more than 20 times, all they say is the "car's finish, you can pick it up", after that?? still the same old problem, talk about GM service, now i know what GM service means, in GM's website, there's this "suggestion", its printed there that GM would get in touch with me as soon as possible, but did that happen?? i dont think so, i already sent a letter of complain to GM, but still no response, nice customer service!! not!! if GM is not going to buy the car back, then it's time to take legal actions, maybe around monday, i'll call up my lawyer and let him handle this. (puti, don't get me wrong, i am not against you, i'm just letting people know what i had experience, peace! my post is against GM not puti, pls understand, im really pissed at what GM gave me) i sold my previous car last yr because of many problems too, i thought that GM is a reliable company, now it proves that it is not, this is just my opinion, so pls don't be offended

we have had an Optra for almost a year na. The biggest and only problem we have is the fuel economy. if the driver of the optra has a heavy right foot then you could only get around 4-5km/L in the car at city driving, althought i have tried driving it efficiently and was able to get around 7-8km/L but that means really slow acceleration and i find it quite impractical to keep driving it efficiently every day. You cant drive economically when you are in a hurry.
Aside from the fuel economy, there isnt any much problem i can find in the optra, barring little quirks and squeeks. the rest of the car is Ok if only the fuel economy wasnt so bad, it would have been a really great value for money car.

have a couple of friends who bought the optra and they have been complaining recently due to a lot of defects. they have used the car for more than a year now and they both say that quality is bad. let's just hope that other optra owners aren't experiencing the same kind of problem.
