The USD is just getting beaten senseless. Even the AUD has recovered and even made money even after this mornings slide due to the RBA holding rates. Ganun ka sama ang USD right now... The CHF is testing uncharted territories right now... Oil is $82 a barrel. Commodities are rising, even stocks are rising!

Brussels says currency moves could undermine revival
    http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/5cd8dc4a-d...44feabdc0.html
Europe’s fledgling economic recovery could suffer if the euro is further undercut by other currencies, the European Union’s economics chief warned, as China rebuffed fresh pleas to allow the renminbi to strengthen.

Olli Rehn , Europe’s commissioner for economic and monetary affairs, issued the warning amid growing concerns that moves by other nations to restrain their currencies in order to boost exports was taking its toll on Europe’s competitiveness.

Hahaha now they must join the currency war. If they don't join they will lose from all the devaluations that are going on. Believe me, the US will win this currency war. They have the fastest printer in town. They also have Helicopter Ben!

a few pages back (page 29) i posted this:

    re gold

    my prediction:

demand for physical gold will intensify in the coming weeks

but there's more paper gold out there than physical gold

    what's gonna happen?

the spread between cash gold and gold futures will vanish

then spot price will become higher than futures prices

if contract holders think they can't get physical gold in the future, they'll dump futures and rush to the spot market
    Gold spot price:

    Gold Dec 2010 futures

How can the devaluation of the US dollar have any advantage if the Chinese yuan stubbornly refuses to appreciate? Isn't devaluation supposed to help exports but the US lost most of its export based industries years ago. Countries "losing" the currency wars don't exactly have booming economies either...

Not necessarily against China. Its against anyone really... Against Europe, against Japan, against 3rd world currencies... The US still does export a lot of intellectual property and admittedly enough they are still very high tech compared to other countries. They don't export the cheap stuff anymore... They also export a lot of movies and music!

the Fed is devaluing the dollar not coz it wants to boost US exports (though that can be a side effect)

the Fed is devaluing the USD mainly coz it wants to create inflation

the Fed openly said inflation is too low and it is determined to fight disinflation
