Were You A Working Student Before?

Anyone here who became a working student before? When and what company did you worked on before during your student days, either 70's, 80's, 90's and so on.

16 ako nong nagbabaliktad ako ng karne sa mc donald's. sophomore high school ako noon. that was my summer job. then i was bagging groceries at safeway for a while until college. then i had an internship at one of the then big five accounting firms kpmg.

Stock pa rin. Mahigpit dito sa Kuwait. Actually, hindi allowed dito ang mag modify unless OEM na talaga.

Btw, dahil mahirap lang, dati akong nagtrabaho as service crew sa Pizza Hut Greenhills, sa kanto ng Wilson St. nuong 1987, pero wala na ngayon dun. Then, nag work ako as waiter sa Hard Rock Cafe Malate,now called Ten Years After, for a few months, then I was transferred to Hard Rock Cafe sa may Sunvar Plaza, sa likod ng Makati Cinema Square, from late 1987 till I graduated in college in 1990.

I really missed the time I had worked at Hard Rock Cafe. Para bang araw-araw nasa party ako, lalo na kapag Fridays and Saturdays, kahit waiter lang ako nuon. Wow! I really missed it. Masaya na mahirap. Pero masaya pa rin. After ng duty namin, especially after Friday or Saturday, lasing na rin ako. Good gracious! Daming magagandang chicks na guests at that time.

Even when I am already working in a bank during the 90's, I make it sure that during the weekends, nasa Hard Rock Cafe ako, but as a guest na.

Wherever they are right now, I would like to thank my manager at that time, Ms. Gloria "Goyet" Ornopia for giving me the chance na palagi akong night shift para makapag aral ako during daytime. Also, to my bosses Mr. Johnny Borromeo and Mr. Boy Gatus, producer of Iskul Bukol.

In 1994, nag closed shop ang HRC Sunvar Plaza. Dunno why. Nakakalungkot.....

Ako, working student. Working for my dad, as a gasoline boy.

After my dad passed away, I worked for my elder brother, as a cashier.

ako rin kinailangan kong magtrabaho kasi di naman malaki kita ng parents ko kaya nakakahiyang huminga pa ng allowance.

Better. I repaired and built desktops for my classmates and teachers. Soon enough, several departments of the school became my clients...

I thought i'd have difficulty being an employee because i often do things in my own time and pace.

I got to be financially independent from my parents. Initially, i just wanted to have a source of money for my extra curricular activities but it proved to be more.

ako simula 3rd year college working na, nag business ako ng cellcards, e load, a load and cellphone accessories. after i graduated sinamahan ko na din ng grocery items yung shop ko hangang ngayon buhay pa din business ko kahit may job na ko as a medical rep. masaya kasi independent kaso meron akong mga hindi na enjoy during my college life tsaka medyo yumabang ata ako sa parents ko knowing that i can already stand alone.

No. But my brother did. He begged my Dad to let him work as crew at Wendy's Makati ave in the early 90s. He did not even last 2 months ata

I've always wanted to experience working sa fast food kaso I never had the chance.

Naging working student ako before. After ojt kasi na-absorb ako. So yung last trimester ko nasa office ako most of the time. It was a fun experience.

Yup, sarap mag working student iba yung accomplishment na ipag sabay both aral at work.
Dati summer job Lang 2nd yr college first attempt d ako tinanggap ng jollibee at 2nd attempt ay Greenwich sabit padin. Yung 3rd eh blessing talaga waiter ako sa racks yung unang open nila dami ko Pera nun me tip centralize at service charge aside nun natangap pa ako student assistant during enrollment lang me daily allowance. Bumili ako ng gamit house like component, rice cooker etc
Nung nag major na ko subject sa engg sakto d na ko renew. Tapos nung medyo maluwag ulit ng 4th yr nag Wendy's ako pero 2 mos lng ako di maayos ka crew nila dun. Nag part time lang ako sa advertising.

I was a laborer (tiga-masa ng semento, tagabuhat, etc) sa construction during my 1st 2 summer vacation for P90 per day. Sakto naman nakakaipon ako pang matrikula when enrollment comes. Gusto ko talaga maranasan mga mahirap na trabaho dahil nagiging motivation ko to strive sa buhay. Now, ikinukwento ko ito sa mga anak ko lalo na kung narereklamo sila.

My first sem in college, my father berated me for having a grade of 3 in one subject. Sabi niya, wag ko daw sayangin pera niya. Kaya ayun, kahit kaya namin, i worked sa fastfood the next sem. On my free evenings, i would go around town with my acoustic band and sing in different bars. When I stopped sa fastfood, tutoring korean students naman. Dumadayo din ako for billiards, counter strike and dota para makipagpustahan, swerte naman kasi madalang lang matalo. This went on till my 3rd yr. 4th year ko, i was on ojt na at an accountng firm and workng part time for a call center. Sa awa ng Dyos, nakagraduate naman on time, with latin honors.

During law school naman, hnayaan kong bumawi parents ko sakin. My freshman year sila nagpaaral sakin. Buti na lang mura tuition sa UP. On my second year to graduation, i shuffled between being a legal researcher, paralegal, events organizer, bookkeeper, etc., para lang makatapos. Took me more than 5 years to fnish law school pero worth it. Nakatulong din na may frat kasi alaga ako ng mga brods.

3rd year, started working in our university admission office.. we started the computerization program.. from enrollment, keying of info, computerized assignment of subjects, printing of report cards, up to printing of transcript of records.. did this till 4th year.. after graduation.. they want us to continue.. but pay was so low.. we left... up to now they're still using the system we did..

yap, working student ako from 3rd yr to 4th yr sa admission.. di ko pinaalam sa parents ko, ung binibgay nilang pera pambayad ng TF di ko kinukuha ng buo. kalahati lang kinuha ko heheh.. nalaman ng mother ko pinuntahan ako sa school. hahahaha yun pala sasabihin nya na "naks, congrats" tapos tinreat ako that day

pag summer naman I usually look for summer job.. meron din ung nagbubuhat ako ng mga mabibigat na mga gamit (boxes) tapos ililipat sa kabilang bldg o kaya maglinis ng mga building

and during my highschool / elementary days.. nagbebenta ako ng dyaro (naglalakd ako non), tapos tuyo naman sa palengke sabay nagbubuhat na rin ako ng mga pinalengke ng mga tao at ihatid sila hanggang sakayan

hehe.. iniipon ko din mga bote ng mga patis, suka, tapos ibebenta ko, hinihingi ko sa mga fastfood.
