    the difference is very significant.
    i wonder, how so?

    however,
    it is not only now, that i find so-called spot interest rates to be more advantageous than longer-term placements.
    my guess is, "money costs more now-in-the-short-term", than in the longer term.

    we're in a rising interest rate environment

    newer bonds will pay higher interest

    -

    as soon as you buy a bond, there will be newer bonds that pay higher interest

    so the bond you bought drops in price
